10-2 eh? LOL.

We are going to lose about 97% of our offensive production when Gilbert is gone. We have absolutely zero clue if any of our QB's currently on campus or committed to us now are any good. Its too bad that we haven't had a chance to get Neal Burcham some meaningful snaps this year. Add to that we graduate 3 starters in the secondary (Acker, Parks, Scott), our two middle LB's (Rambo, Pope), and our two most explosive WR's (Holman and JJ).

Next year will be a rebuilding year IMO. Thankfully, the American is total garbage and we can probably stay right at .500 and play in another meaningless bowl game.

I would like a rematch with Cincinnati for sure.

A schedule like this might be good for us:

Baylor (away)
UNT (away)
Stephen F Austin (home)
TCU (home)
Memphis (home)
Tulsa (away)
Tulane (away)
Cincinnati (home)
UConn (away)
Houston (home)
Temple(away)
USF (home)

Potential 10-2 or 11-1 if we can beat TCU.
Great OOC schedule and in CUSA we should go undefeated

SMU would be 9-3 at best. Unproven quarterback, many holes to fill and questionable defense.

We return 18 starters next year and O'Korn will be even scarier. It only took a year, but we have reloaded and will be contenders once again for quite sometime. I fully expect to blow out SMU like we normally do.

Neal Burcham should do real good this next year. He's accurate on the pass and he's gotten bigger while at SMU. If not, we have Darrell Colbert (QB) coming in and several of his Lamar players as well (LB, WR and C). They are undefeated and going for state. Colbert is like a Russell Wilson type kid, dual threat, fast on his feet. Excellent release as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaDiGt1qRJw

Prescott Line will have a coming out year in 2014, a la Zach Line. I have faith in the kid leading our Runningback Corps. Now that Gilbert is leaving, PLine will pick up the slack in the running game and get our ground game back. We still have Shead for another year, and KC Nlemchi as well.

O Line will be in way better shape. So will our defense. I have faith in next years team. We will do good.

Rather than taking the low road when out attendance is brought up and saying yea but so and so is bad too....why don't we look at the reasons why and try to improve it. The key is to get the surrounding area to embrace your football team and it become a popular, affordable and fun destination. SMU's problem is the snooty factor and only appealing to SMU snoots and their liking to have it to themselves or at least that perception. Open it up and make it a family atmosphere. We need families coming in from Allen, Desoto, cedar hill, Mansfield schools, east Texas...everyone within a short hour drive. Make it their team too. I would say going undefeated would do little to fill the stadium, it is the mindset that needs to change. June needs to ride his motorcycle around the state promoting SMU. Would be fun for him and give an identity to the program instead of one as an older guy on his last contract.

O'Korn even scarier? Oh snap. We should probably not even try to defend our home field and the 30 point donkeypunching we gave UH in 2012.

Leave it to a smoo fan to live in the past. I'm sure you also blame your current woes on the death penalty too.
Most people won't remember 72-42 but everybody will always remember 95-21.

Some food for thought.

Didn't you retire and doesn't every body on this board think of you as the only person more insane than Cougar King?

10-2? What on earth makes you ever think we could do that? The talent pool has dwindled pretty low, and while I do think Burcham has talent, he's not a super star. There's middle school teams that have more talent and speed in the secondary than we do. Prescott is as slow and as agile as camel (more KC please).

If this is a June Jones coached team next year (please, please NO) I see 7 wins there max and assuming that we would get that cupcake schedule you've put together and assuming A&M would let us out of the [deleted] whooping they've got lined up. If there's another coach, then all bets are technically off, but there isn't enough talent here to pull off a 10-2 record even with that creampuff schedule kiddo.

So you reference living in the past and then double down on being mentally handicapped by referencing a game from 20 years ago.

This is coming from the guy who "retired" because everybody was hurting his feelings.

Sadly CK and FTHP are spraying their diarrhea over every thread so its really hard for any threads to have any sort of cohesion. Those two Simple Jacks are ruining this forum.

And worse yet the people responsible for this site are allowing it.
