Kaiser was a pretty well-regarded QB coming out of HS, he just never panned out here. Same with Burcham- he didn't have a lot of big time offers but he was an Elite 11 MVP..I'm really looking forward to seeing Burcham next year. Also, if Harris sticks, he's a 4-star on ESPN and Scout.

The scoop (I think) is that he injued his foot and missed significant time while healing. Kid blew up early on, but lack of camp activity and no stats probably made a few programs back off.

We stayed on him with Odum, JP and JJ actually spoke with him on the phone nto close the deal. There was a great JJ quote (about himself) from the Rivals article, that i won't divulge here. But that quote alone may be worth the price of the subscription!

Picture Ron Burgandy saying "I'm kind of a big deal."

WRs especially seeing how June has taken a bunch of kids nobody really regarded and put them into the NFL. With a QB you could fall back on the old "system QB" argument. But for creating eye-popping stats, for the reps and highlight film opportunities, there's no place better to be for WRs.
I agree with this, but keep in mind that although JJ and DJ are #5 and #7 nationally in receptions last time I checked, this is a very new thing at SMU. It's that good because of GG (and the chemistry with the WRs) and Mumme. I actually think the marriage of the horizontal and vertical is working wonders. We'll see next year if JJ and Mumme are still here and if our new QB will be any good. But in our offense it's all about chemistry and I think we are showing this year what the POTENTIAL can be. If we put together a few straight years of this and a class or so worth of stats, then we'll see it open up.

I, for one, am hoping that Burcham can be that next guy along with chemistry with DJ, Taylor, and Gaines (I'm still not very big on DT).

It because we have not gone hard after blue chip QB's and WR's. You have to go hard after them to get them. And the only reason we probably got this one is because he was injured.

That's fer sure!

But at least in this instance it sounds like the coaches worked hard for this get. Even if he was injured, they stayed after him.

Guinyard had serious knee injuries as a Senior in High School and twice since getting here. I'm a little bit baffled why so many apparently backed off JUST because of a broken foot which is usually not a permanent career threatening injury. Anybody got any stats on this guy_ I find lots of recruiting stories but very little information about actual performance as a Junior or earlier this year before the injury which I think happened in mid October

Junior stats from Rivals and 24/7 say 11 catches for 220 yards.
