Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!I like the part where average players can average 7 pts per half.

Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!Quinton Ross averaged 7 ppg and played 19 mpg as a freshman. He played within himself and in the flow of the game. Great defensive player which is why he got on floor early. He was like our 5th option-only took 5-6 shots per game. Ross wasn't as highly rated as Frazier but I think Frazier is getting there. Ross was unselfish almost to a fault.

Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!Frazier had a couple of incredible passes underneath tonight. He will be great. No sense in questioning brown at this point.
Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!The more games we play the better things will be. 5 more OOC games until conference play.

Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!@blackoutpony Thank you for the google tip. Your statistician work is truly unmatched here at ponyfans.com
![]() I was just drawing a comparison between JJ Reddick and Keith Frazier because they were both McDonald's All Americans with in the gym range and similar games. What better comparison can you make to Keith Frazier than JJ Reddick? I would be interested to hear your opinion. I think that you and your impeccable statistician work proved my point. Keith Frazier is not coming close to producing what we need from him as a McDonald's All-American. Virginia 7pts, Texas A&M 2pts. Do you think that 7pts and 2pts is acceptable for a McDonald's All-American? I think that a few others tried to maybe compare Frazier to Jeryl Sasser or Quinton Ross, I get it be that they were the next best players to play at SMU within the past 8+ years, but I really think Keith Frazier is in a class all by himself. Yes Keith is surrounded by a lot of talent, but other McDonald All-Americans were also surrounded by equal or better talent and those McDonald All-Americans stepped up and played like the ballers that they were. See JJ Reddick. JJ Reddick played on a team that was stacked and still scored 15ppg as a Freshman. Just an example. We really need Frazier to step up his game. I understand that Frazier got into a bit of foul trouble against Texas A&M, but he could have shown better. He made one incredible 17ft bucket and one really nice drive and dish, but other than that, he was sitting out on the three point line waiting for the game to come to him.

Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!I actually think Frazier is a little better than JJ Reddick but maybe not quite yet (if you stood them side by side at the same age). Frazier is a better athlete, JJ is probably a better shooter. Give it time. I feel he'll crack the starting lineup this year and with Mudiay next year something tells me he'll get a lot of open looks (those 2 dudes on the same floor with Nic Moore gets me as giddy as a tornado in a trailer park - team them with Yannick with a year under his belt and hopefully a little more muscle and a Bolden type elite big and it's turn the lights out/game over).
And a note on McDonald's All Americans. Just because you are one, doesn't mean you are an instant lottery pick. Many never even make it to the NBA (I'd like to see the percentages). Just because he was one doesn't mean he's an automatic elite player. Definitely potential and better than anyone we've had before Mudiay in terms of recruiting swag, but nothing is automatic. Having said all that, yes, I think he should be getting more minutes and should be producing more at this point. But I'm hopeful and patient on him.
Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!@ojipony
Great post! You made some great points. I agree with you. Frazier is definitely a better athlete than Reddick. Definitely hard to be patient with a McDonald's All-American and all the hype. Imagine a lineup of Mudiay, Frazier, Nic Morre, Yanick Moreira, Myles Turner. And Sterling Brown, Ben Moore, Markus Kennedy, and Bolden off the bench. Basically a 2 Point Guard Lineup. Could be pretty special. I hope this is not a dream... I don't want to wake up! ![]() Does anyone have any other good comparisons for Keith Frazier's game and potential? (other than JJ Reddick)
Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!
He will trust Mudiay if Mudiay earns his trust. He seems to have a world of talent, but is he going to sit Nic Moore, the "quarterback" he has wanted to run his team since he was hired in favor of a freshman with talent and potential who hasn't learned the LB way? If Frazier is playing well, is he going to sit Frazier? It seems likely that Mudiay, if he's as good as advertised, would start eventually, but starting him right away seems very on-LB-like.
Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!
This is just a sample the 07 & 08 McDonalds teams 48 players 36 made it to the NBA 75% which is pretty good. By contrast the 09 team which is this year's rookies only 8 out of 24 - 33%. Just from what I've heard or read from a lot of the all-ams they like to consider themselves 1 and done. That's good if the NBA would have 35 retirements a year but, it doesn't. If this trend continues I could see the avg. age of the NBA will be 25.
Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!
In case you had not been reading some other posts the thought is that Mudiay and Moore will start. Last edited by SMU 86 on Mon Dec 02, 2013 1:47 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!If Mudiay does not start from the beginning it will send a negative message to top 10 recruits. It would be foolish not to start him due to the implications it would bring.

Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!
If he's ready I agree. You can't expect the current players to lay down just because of the hype he's coming in with. In high school you can be the stud at about every game you play in. D1 ball the entire team is usually loaded with studs from the area they came from. So I say he should start if he earns it. It shouldn't just be given to him.
Re: Ready for Frazier to Step Up!
He'll start next year with Nic Moore. Just Like Moreira started this year from the beginning of the season even though it is his first season with SMU.. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown
