SMU and/or CofC need to be thinking about doing everything possible to increase attendance. With JJ coming back, and a very tough OOC again, I find that a hard sell to make.
If we average 19k (announced) now, and with tons of diehard fans saying they'll walk if JJ is extended, I just don't see this as a good move.
It's all conjecture anyway, but my best educated guess.
We will probably draw around 35K for A&M and TCU games which will help the average, but yeah outside of those two games, assuming we lose to Baylor, A&M, and TCU, Ford will be a morgue.

We may get Tulsa or Tulane at home, or even ECU - I don't expect many more fans than we got for Rutgers or Uconn however.
UH at home may give us a boost though.

2014 is the year we have to make an impression. If Mason manages to get our defense up to 2011-2012 levels, as well as get Burcham up to speed, and Prescott playing like Zach...we might have a chance at making things happen.
TCU taught us that Baylor is beatable. Run the clock and keep em off the field. (will be tough with our offensive style) Texas A&M will be tough but winnable (assuming Manziel leaves for the draft this year) TCU is winnable (new QB, offense sucks and looks like it won't get better)
If we lose those 3 games...we can still win the other 9.
It will be just like CUSA.

Where's the talent to win 9 games going to come from? Bear in mind that we never won 9 games back in C-USA.

That's a fact of what has been, but isn't, necessarily, what will be. Are we likely to win 9 games next season? Maybe not. Is it a fact? No.

Fact: if jj is given an extension there will be a lot less people in the stands next year.

Since no extension has been given yet. (It should have already been done for recruiting purposes if it was to be done) I am wondering if Jones is under the same edict as was Bennett. Bowl game warrants extension. No bowl, off you go. Like I mentioned, not having done an extension by now is unusual for someone who is staying.

That would be clean and easy and I hope it is the case.

I think Mydel is on the right track. I am sure the staff wanted extensions prior to the season and didn't get them then. Why would we do it now, after recruiting has already been impacted?

That might explain losing the 4-star QB recruit; Tyler Harris
