TCU taught us that Baylor is beatable. Run the clock and keep em off the field. (will be tough with our offensive style) Texas A&M will be tough but winnable (assuming Manziel leaves for the draft this year) TCU is winnable (new QB, offense sucks and looks like it won't get better)
If we lose those 3 games...we can still win the other 9.
It will be just like CUSA.
Where's the talent to win 9 games going to come from? Bear in mind that we never won 9 games back in C-USA.
Most of our good players these last few years were 2-3 star kids. I'm not worried about talent... SMU's losses have some things in common. 1) Penalties: vs TTU 9-94yds vs Texas A&M 13-114yds vs. TCU 6-41yds vs. Rutgers 5-50yds vs. Cincy 8-78yds vs. Houston 10-90yds 2) Horrible special teams performance 3) Defense giving up big plays 4) Turning the ball over (dropping balls while running, fumbling, interceptions) The key to all of this is discipline. If next year our team comes to the field well drilled and disciplined...I can see us winning 8 games at least.

doesn't discipline come from the Coaching Staff? Isn't discipline taught during practice?
I could go on and on...but I don't blame the players for illegal substitution calls...

If this is what's coming, well, yeah, it's going to be really bad year for us
And probably several years after that given that recruiting is terrible this year and probably non-existent next year............

You continue to prove that you know absolutely nothing about football. The reason all these things happen is because there is so little talent. How are you not worried about talent? It's literally the number 1 thing we [deleted] about on ponyfans. Players with talent don't consistently have the problems of "dropping balls while running, fumbling, interceptions". Sorry guys, I know I shouldn't have, but I fed the troll......

And how many championships, Top 25 rankings, P5 victories, and victories over winning teams do we have to show for all that 2-3 star talent we've had?

There's no way JJ comes back. This is Rick Hart's first chance to get a big money D-1 coach in basketball/football. He's going shopping.

By talent I meant 4-5 star kids. When I said "I'm not worried about talent" I meant that our problem isn't our players that we have right now...it's discipline which of course comes from coaching/staff. I should have written "I'm not worried about our talent"

What? I not even sure what that second sentence means, but you should be extraordinarily worried about our lack of talent. It's going to be crippling.

Good thread PonyinNC.
I've been worried lately that it might play out the way you laid it out. If it does play out this way, I am very worried about next years recruiting . The waiting for a clear direction is excruciating.

I'm worried because recruiting is bad now, itll get worse if this is how it plays out...and then a new coach takes a while to really take effect. Its going to take larry brown hopefully around 5 years to make us nationally relevant and he's a HOF coach. Football takes a lot longer because one or two good recruits dont make a huge diffrence. so we are looking at 10 years until a new coach can really have a big time effect. Thats too long, we will be left behind
