Frats are dumb and i was in one - divides the campus - you couldnt go to party rarely when hosted by another, not sure if thats changed.

If fraternities are a dying breed than SMU is sh*t outta luck because they account for a grotesque portion of donations. For all their huffing and puffing Cheves, White, and RGT know exactly where their bread is buttered. And it isn't all the international students, performance arts majors, or president scholars. There's also a backlog of 16 fraternities that stand in line waiting to open a chapter at SMU, so somebody missed the memo that they're dying.

Fraternities don't divide the campus, d*uches do. Don't be a d*uche. I know, that's a tall order for a lot of 18 year old kids. If I bumped into my 18 year old self, I'd kick his as*, and the experience would be good for both of us.

Maybe not at smu, but they're declining nationally and rightfully so.

The reason for the decline in fraternities at SMU is solely due to Dr Lori White (who finally chose to resign), her right hand girl (who also was forced to resign), and RGT. It was/is their mission to destroy the Greek system. And STL is right, about 80% of large donations to SMU are from former Greek members because they care(d) about the university.

Fraternities are dying left and right nationwide, that is why they are clamoring for a spot at SMU. Yes, rich white people are keeping them alive and they are the same who give to SMU. That doesn't mean they serve the same purpose they did 60 or 100 years ago. Read the headlines.

Greek life is a mess. They are throwing out sanctions and probations like nobodies business. I don't know the current status of my chapter and I'm an active in it........
