Even knowing Mac Brown won't come back, they won't say it is the right thing to do. They talked about Campo and Wade getting raw deals from Jerry. They cover up/overlooked Nellie skipping practice to play golf and promoted his BS demand for an extension and then suggested Nellie shouldn't have been fired by Cuban after Nellie basically begged to get fired so he could get paid not to coach. They never talk about Landry being so old and out of it he sent in the wrong play from the sideline n a game. They overlook the fact that many of Jimmy's friends said he wouldn't coach the Cowboys more than five years.
The timing of this would seem to indicate that June initiated the contact for the interview.

No in 1981 we were good 10-1 and 7-1 in the SWC and had a coach that recruited like his life depended on it. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981_SMU ... tball_team

I know of no SMU commit who was fully qualified under NCAA rules without a serious criminal record who was denied admission to SMU and went on to start a single game at the Division 1A level. Nobody in the SMU community has ever been able to come up with an exception.

I'm sorry but we weren't. We were competitive through the 40's, and then had little sustained success until we went out and openly bought players, making us the dirtiest program in NCAA football history, which led only to about a five year run of success. When Hayden Fry had a LITTLE success here he quickly jumped ship. Shoot, anybody remember when Cavan went 6-5 and everybody thought he was going to go to Ole Miss? I do. He was going to leave, too. And of course, Ron Meyer left as soon as HE could. By in large we were run over decade after decade by the 'horns, pigs, aggies, and later on the cougs when they joined. We consistently fought Baylor, Rice, and TCU for the bottom. I'm sorry but it's true - look up our records through the SWC years. I'm caught on the JJ issue. We've got inherent issues that most schools we compete with don't - small school with scattered alumni, horribly apathetic alumni base, residue from DP (Don't kid yourself, recruits still see us as the Death Penalty school), etc. Stallions right, the academic problems aren't really an issue anymore, but they aren't giving us any big edge, either. There are plenty of schools who have alumni who think just anybody can walk into their job and win - don't fall victim to that. I genuinely believe only a few could have real success at this program at this point. GOSHDARNIT JUNE GO OUT AND HIRE A COUPLE OF YOUNG AGGRESSIVE RECRUITERS AND PUT THIS ISSUE TO REST. His contract runs out next year. He isn't going anywhere before that. I'm willing to wait to pass judgment before then.

Careful, Georgia State beat Florida at home 2 weeks ago. Not the kind of team that June thinks would do him any favors.
Georgia Southern beat Florida.

The spot-light is on HIM, look at what HE did for your child, blah blah blah.
Would it really make a difference? How many people are in the stands 30 minutes before the game?

june is trying to work something out of the administration that he is currently not getting. It is as obvious as can be. This total idiot is buying it, and is helping the extortion play. Trying to advance the "you don't want to look stupid" fear that exists in every AD and President out there. Won the games when we had equal talent is not the issue - the issue is the talent we get. Kids come back to Texas and call us first because they know they can walk in and start at almost any position since the recruiting is so poor.

What SMU has done with Garrett Gilbert, Shawbrey McNeil, Marquis Frazier, Syzmanski and a few others kid can only loosely be described as great recruiting-they did fall in his lap which is great and partially a credit to changed admission standards at SMU

From the time SMU entered the SWC in 1918 until the DP in 1986 (that's 69 years), the only two SWC schools* with had a higher winning percentage than SMU were UT & Arkansas. * - had to be a SWC member for more than 12 years to qualify. Oh, and for you or any other poster that wants to single out SMU for cheating during the Pony Express days, that gold Trans-Am was originally the property of A&M, not SMU.

If you remove all the games he's lost, June is undefeated.

Absolutely, is my bet. He's got his contacts, at The NYT, ESPN, that he pimps when needed.
