Everybody knows that June is not doing it on the recruiting front. Klemm proved that a good recruiter could get top players interested in SMU. I think the point of this post is that most people think the cure all is just a staff a young recruiters. And while that will help and certainly is better than nothing, I do think the bigger question is, is this school committed. I think that is the bigger question that we are not asking. Why has June given up? One of the interesting things about June is that after his first few years at Hawaii, he could have had any number of PAC 12 (PAC 10 at the time) jobs. He was a former NFL coach who had the best turnaround in college football and the hardest place to win. Oregon State was interested when Erickson left, UCLA was interested when they fired Toledo, Arizona was interested when they fired Tomey, Washington was interested post Neuhisel. He was never interested in those PAC 12 jobs. Was happy being on the islands. Liked turning around places. That ASU interest was strange, he could have had a job like that post his 12-1 sugar bowl team easy. But he chose SMU and then one day just did not want to be here. Never has made sense to me. What soured him on SMU?
Now... that is an important question. If it happened to JJ, who is to say it won't happen again and again.
