I've never heard JJ say anything about the fans. And when he came here he was very interactive, and positive with the fans.

He publicly complained about the fans in an interview right before the ASU fiasco. Just sayin.

After the ASU fiasco, JJ's son tweeted that SMU had the worst football fans in the country. Think he got that from his dad?

June refused to say anything to the media last night????!!! That goes down as one of the most ridiculous and tell-talingly unconstructive posts ever on here. LB says something at a BBall news conference and JJ is attacked for being silent. At another sports news conference. Which he didn't attend. What did the soccer coach say? Volleyball? Swimming? - oh yeah, they need a natatorium.
Except June has openly criticized fans on the radio after games. No matter the crowd size, LB goes out of his way to praise the fans. Guess what the SMU fans like LB more than June, wonder why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There's probably a reason that he goes to Arkansas and not SMU..... Which is funny because LB's son goes here.

As much as I am not a fan of June, leave his son out of it. I knew him through my younger brother who played football with him at Prestonwood and he couldn't be a nicer kid. He was an 18 year old kid when he made those comments and what 18 year old doesn't lack some maturity. While he was in high school he was on the sidelines for every home game and could see first hand that we could never fill the stadium and I'm sure that is tough coming from Hawaii where his dad was considered a god in that state. And there are reasons why he doesn't go to SMU, but none of them have to do with June not wanting to be here.

FWIW, it wasn't an attack at him, it was about June not planning on being here long term while LB does IMO. I've met him as well. Really good guy and couldn't be nicer.

My comment was about him complaining about attendance in a post game interview with Rich Phillips on KTCK for a game after he the ASU deal. He put it in a passive aggressive way and it really poed me off. Not sure which game it was and what exactly be said, but I won't forget the tone. Grant, LB didn't win last year. If you recall they had a losing record and lost in the first round of the conference playoffs. Many SMzu fans including myself were skeptical of the hire. I could not have been more wrong. I was also excited the June Jones was coming to SMU to build a program. I was wrong about that too. Fans like me like LB because he acts and talks like he wants to be here, works hard at his job, recruits, reaches out to the fans and students, and puts put a team that is fun to watch. He says over and over that he hopes his SMU team will play in such a way that they will earn the fans that come see them play. Please contrast all of this to June Jones words and actions. When June was still on an upslope people liked him and he behaved the exact same way he does now. Back then many people thought it was cool that he was so laid back, wore Hawaiian shirts to games, etc. It all boils down to winning or continued improvement.

Absolutely true. Winning solves a lot of problems and or deficiencies. People will look past a lot of things if you win (or they will just find less things to knit pick at)

Disagree. There was plenty of people upset with June even when he was winning. The geldings, his obsession with the Hawaii Bowl to the exclusion of the conference championship etc. but you are right he has acted like an [deleted] since he got here and people have soured on him over time not because he was losing, his record isn't that much different than his first good year, they soured on him because he doesn't give a flip about our fans or SMU and consistently let everyone know about it. You can only poke some one in the eye do many times before he gets sick of it. Many have tried as much as humanly possible to like the guy, but he does not care to even try, which is his right, but it is my right to call him out on it. Please give me one reason why I ought like the guy, besides his loyalty to his players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
