[deleted] June JonesModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: [deleted] June JonesAlso if a coach has a social media account it should be easy to find. I believe a few have facebook but June might be the only one with a twitter account. Not sure a bout instagram. I think Maligi and KT are on all of them.[/quote]

Re: [deleted] June Jones
If this is truly what Hart thinks, it's time to get a new AD.
Re: [deleted] June JonesThis is like the lotto...you can't win if you don't play. I can't believe that the excuse that you can't win a recruiting battle is an acceptable reason for not trying. Too much of a commitment of time and energy?...that's why the HC is paid the big bucks. Perhaps the real problem is a certain coach's ego will not allow him to be put in the position of "failure" on the recruiting trail...or he just plain doesn't get it. One thing is for sure, without better recruiting soon, we are never going to advance and will be left in the cold when the musical chairs of realignment moves once again.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: [deleted] June JonesIn football, I don't have an issue with not going after the 5 stars or most 4 stars, but the excuse is having our efforts on other good recruits is just not bearing itself out. These coaches are lazy and don't constantly or in some cases ever talk to the recruits that they even offer. You will hear every excuse in the book why our recruiting in football is abysmal, including those I listed. Whether Hart truly believes it or not because Jones is a sitting duck and we can't afford to fire him this year remains to be seen, but the proof is in the pudding. And I'm not hearing of any improvement or focus from the HC, so I have to believe Hart truly believes all these excuses. He also didn't give the basketball staff in my mind the credit I think it deserves saying its easier to recruit for basketball and rebuild a program. While I get part of that, it's still all just bs excuses, and not entirely true. The bball staff works endlessly to put us in positions for these recruits, and the football staff just seems to get a free pass. If anyone disagrees, ask hart yourself why our football recruiting is in the current state it is, and also ask yourself where are the results that prove is getting things done on the recruiting trail?
Re: [deleted] June JonesI have a hard time buying this as his true thoughts. He is polished enough to find an excuse to try to paint his head coach as well as possible, and polished enough not to say 'we have no chance' unless he was forced to. Those two things point to that being the June cover excuse not his true opinions
"I think Couchem is right."

Re: [deleted] June Jones
Talked to Zach Allens (TCU qb from Temple) parents recently who are family friends of mine. I asked what contact Zach had with June and they told me that Zach actually wanted to go to SMU because his uncle is an alum and had a handful of conversations with June after he decommitted from Syracuse. Zach went to elite 11 camp, called June when he returned and June didn't return his call or make effort to talk to him from that point.

We did but June fired them.

Re: [deleted] June JonesI don't know how much more evidence you people need before you simply realize the following:
1. SMU HAS NO INTEREST IN FOOTBALL 2. JUNE JONES HAS NO INTEREST IN SMU 3. JUNE JONES HAS NO INTEREST IN RECRUITING So please go ahead and invest your money, time, energy, and passion into a school and program that simply has no real desire to be great. As long as the program isn't an embarassment like it was for the majority of the last 25 years then Turner/Hart/CoC are more than happy. This athletic department and administration has proven they simply do not believe it can be done here. Going 6-6 is the goal now. Why support a program that doesn't support you? In fact, it is laughing at you while you continue to keep it on life support. Let this thing die. We are a basketball school now. Back off Warchild seriously.

Re: [deleted] June JonesI'm pretty sure I"ve posted this before but I'll post again just for more ammunition against this staff (as if it is needed.)
I have a friend who is a fellow SMU alum that is an assistat principal here in Dallas. I won't say the name of the school, but it is in Dallas and produces several D1A caliber players every year. He said that in the 6 years that he's been associated with the school both as a teacher and administrator that an SMU football coach has been on campus ONE TIME. Once in six years at a school that produces several quality prospects every year. Now you tell me if that is worth $2M a year. Back off Warchild seriously.
