I will follow Malonish's advice and ship you a gift card with cash instead of giving it to you in person, only to protect my identity, and I have reason to fear for my safety with any of you. I will not reveal my identity to any of you unless we can come to an agreement of respect and put an end to this hate that you all show towards me. I am willing to stop posting whatever comes to mind if you all stop harassing and acting like a bunch of hate lemmings towards me. Like I said before, my intention is not to troll. I'm willing to cut you some slack if you were not so bombastic in everything you post and don't contradict yourself from one post to the next. You have absolutely nothing to fear for any of us even if you are a troll. We are all friends over drinks. I just happen to be old school and when you make a bet you pay up.

We just want you to stop posting nonsense. Things were great before you created an account.

Mustangs_Maroons wrote:The problem with Hart is that he already bought the excuses from June. He told me jones doesn't recruit the top recruits because it's too much time and commitment required with very low chances of getting a recruit against the top schools. The problem is he doesn't put forth much if any effort with 3-star recruits either.
Hart believes we're in a tough spot. We cannot compete against the public schools, not even referring to UT and a&m (which already goes without saying to him) but even against the ucfs or Houston's of the NCAA. Add to that we're not a premier academic institution ala stsnford, Vanderbilt or NW, and we can't compete for those athletes that may not want a public school since they can have these options as well. There are excuses across the board, and I don't believe Hart genuinely thinks we can differentiate ourselves.!
The truth is you can make excuses about every program and situation, and it's too bad our own AD doesn't think like LB does, where he has publicly stated that we don't have anything to envy any other program when we position ourselves holistically (great school with great academics, in a great city, with traditions in place). Heck, Ucf may be large but they had no football program up until recently. They didn't let that hold them back. We need folks that are doers, and right now we only have LB, which we should all be thankful for.
Historically, prior to the DP, we exceeded anything Baylor or TCU could do. There is no reason that shouldn't be the case again.

Unless you are talking about the accomplishments of Meyer/Collins that were done with less than honest means it's hard to claim anything of that nature. Win % Pre-Meyer: TCU-0.54050 Baylor-0.52859 SMU-0.52544 Win % during Pony Excess: SMU: 0.62400 Baylor: 0.58333 TCU: 0.24180 SWC Titles since 1950: SMU: 4 Baylor: 3 TCU: 5 SMU can certainly compete but lets not rewrite history to resemble the Harlem Globetrotters and Washington Generals. They had success but not greatly exceeding the others. (For the record I agree with your point SMU can compete at the BCS bowl level like BU and Tcu have recently with the right coach and support)

This thread really makes me wonder how on earth June was so successful at Hawaii (a tough place to recruit to despite it's scenery) with such lax recruiting?

He said he didn't have the budget to recruit in Hawaii so he had kids send him videos. Now that he doesn't have the same road blocks in recruiting at SMU, he just keeps doing it the same way. He bragged about all the videos he got when he first came here. I thought it was ok cause he got here late when he was first hired. Fact is that is the way he recruits.
He expects kids to want to play for his offense. As you know, it doesn't work that way in Texas.

the only decent teams they played that year were Boise (10-3) and Fresno (9-4) and both games were in Hawaii. Everyone else finished 6-7 (Nevada) or worse. Their OOC was a joke with FBS schools Washington (4-9) and UNLV (2-10) both being awful along with two bad FCS schools in Charleston Southern (5-6) and Northern Colorado (1-11).

Didn't he also beat Alabama once out there? Didn't they play USC a few times (not sure of results)? Not defending everything he did or does, but I don't recall him playing cupcakes like Kansas State and Nebraska traditionally did.
