my favorite "low-hair" steakhouse of all time was the Preston Center Charco Broiler-its been out of business for about 20 years now-but they'd have great inexpensive steaks and salad bar for what today would probably be about 10 bucks in a fast food environment. You could get in and out of there in 30 minutes. I lived at that place during SMU days

Del frisco grill in uptown is less big hair and good steaks..less pretentious at most but still possible to run up a couple hundred dollar tab for dinner for two (as my daughter and often do..she's got good taste)

The Butcher Shop in the Westend was pretty good the last time I ate there, but everything tastes a little bit better when you are eating on the company dime.

Wierd that I don't even remember that place. Sounds a little like Dunston's.

Bob's is still my favorite (original on Lemmon). But I also like Pappa's and Nick & Sam's.

I know it's blaspheme, but I always thought Bob's and Al's are overrated. They're not bad, but not worth the money to me.

Haha. That's my point. No steakhouse is worth it. No nice restaurant is worth it. I can prepare a fantastic meal at home for friends and family for a quarter of what it costs to eat out. USDA Prime aged beef. Truffled risotto. A well aged Cab or three. Raspberry creme brulee. A little Armagnac as a digestif with a cigar. I'll just pocket the three extra bills and be just as fat and happy.

Bob's is generally understood to be gross, but they advertise to tourists to keep the place packed.

Nick and Sam's is the best steakhouse in Dallas.

gross? By who? No one I know has ever reached that conclusion. At least not about the one on Lemmon.

only issue i have with Nick and Sams is when they bring all that 400 a lb kobe steak to the table and try to hard sell you - its embarrassing for everyone and not needed. Otherwise really like the place.

I guess I shouldn't say gross... it's just a Dunston's level steak at a much higher price.

It's like Campisi's. I'm sure it was the best around when Dallas was a much smaller town, but nowadays why would anyone eat there?

I've never found a steak any better than Houston's to be worth it. A 5% increase in quality for a 200% increase in price is silly

You also order your steaks cooked too long. Your opinion is null and void.
