Postby PonyPride » Tue Jan 28, 2014 4:11 pm

SMU found a gem five years ago when track star Margus Hunt joined the Mustangs' football team and turned himself into an NFL draft pick. The Mustangs are hoping history repeats itself in the form of Bozidar "Bo" Antunovic, a three-time track All-America who has enrolled at SMU and will join the team as a defensive end. Antunovic visited with PonyFans.com do discuss his unusual journey to the Hilltop.

Neat story. Sounds like a bright kid knowing several languages. Hope it works out as well for him as it did for Margus.

I thought there is a 5 year window

2010-2011 academic year Arizona Track (i guess I'm assuming he entered in 2010-could be spring semester 2011)
2011-2012 Arizona Track
2012-2013 UTA?
2013-2014 UTA?/SMU
2014 (won't he have to sit out a year /or maybe not if he changes sports?
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

Two years at Arizona, then a year at UTA. My understanding is that the year at UTA counts as his year of sitting out because UTA doesn't have a football team.

Nice! Guys like this don't come along often, and they might not pan out, but I'd take someone like this every year. Well worth the risk.

Sounds like Wollman should be the recruiting coordinator for football.

Great. So we got a guy for 2 years who's never played football before. Sounds like a winning formula to me.

I think we should go after gymnasts next. Then water polo.

Does he have 2 to play 2, or can we RS him? A RS year might be nice so he can, you know, learn how to play football

You guys are incredible. Look at the number of Mustangs in the NFL. Regardless of what you think of their recruiting, these coaches can teach, and if you're going to start from scratch, this guy sounds like a really impressive place to start.

Welcome, Bo!
