I'll buy-think that's right on the money. Both teams from this perspective should be improved.

A loss to Baylor is going to be very hard for Bennett to justify.

The two teams were pretty close to even 2 years ago when Baylor won 10-7 in Waco. The narrow spread can more or less be explained away by homefield advantage. That was Guy Morriss' 3rd game as BU coach while Bennett already had a full year under his belt at SMU.

It is hard to argue that the SMU program that Bennett took over was any worse than the mess at BU that Morriss inherited from Kevin Steele.

So, if Baylor beats SMU Saturday, it can be argued that SMU is not progressing as it should since Phil had a year's head start on Guy. If it's by a decisive margin, then it becomes even more obvious.
