It's a little tricky when you start telling people how to give their money to you.

I think some people want to contribute big bucks and want success for the program but wouldn't ever consider attending a game. (they'd rather be in the red seats at the opera - not that there is anything wrong with that  ) Solution: Buy your row of red seat tickets and ask the athletic office to fill the seats for them for you. Then it is on the ticket/athletic office to guarantee that those seats are completely full.

I like this idea. Solves two issues. Have them pick put the game they will actually show and let the ticket office fill the rest.

I think this is residual from when we were bad and people bought to support but the product wasn't worth watching and you couldn't give tickets away. But those seats have had lots of no shows since the 80s when we were good.

A final suggestion is to have the Godfather do a video like he did for the students and send it to all the red seat season ticket holders. They may actually listen to him.

I have had the ticket office fill bball seats for games when I get called out of town last minute. They placed my seats with a big donor in town visiting and were very appreciative. Call/email Kyle Noesen or Kurt Pottkotter to donate your tickets back to the school.

Love that this is being taken care of. The NEW SMU is proactive and getting stuff done.

I previously had four seats in OO for years and now have 4 club seats in 103, which are worse sight line wise than myold OO seats. When I asked for better seats in either 103 or in 104, I was told by Bob Sharp that better seats were not available. Those better seats now sit empty most games. My four seats are filled for every game and have been for years. This is extremely frustrating. I beleive there is a waiting list for club seats as well as for better seats for existing club seat holders. These seats would all probably be filled for every game if it was not for the phantom seat holders.

Some of the empty red seats are people that are up in a Suite.

Do Suite purchasors get a certain number of red seats automatically whith their purchase?

Or, are these empty red seats people that were invited up to a Suite for an individual game and just did not make sure that their red seats were used? A know that a about three red seats in front of me at the Memphis game were empty. I saw the guy that was in one of them explain to someone inquiring if they could sit in the empty red seat next to him and he said that those tickets were his and that the people that were supposed to be in those seats were up in a suite. The ticket holder explained that he preferred to sit closer to the court and hince was not up in the Suite himself. He did not let anyone sit in the red seats that were vacant the entire game because he said that maybe those in the Suite would come down at some point during the game. Not knocking his decision not to let anyone sit in the empty seats, he did purchase the tickets.

Just offering another explanation as to why there are empty red seats.

No. It is alums supporting the school anyway we can.

I have had FB season tickets for years. So far, my tickets have been used twice (Aggies and TCU) b/c I refuse to sell them to non-SMU fans.
Two FB season tickets aren't that expensive if you choose seats in the right sections. I consider it a donation to the program.

They ask all the season ticket holders to turn in their tickets for sessions they cannot attend. The box office then re-sells those tickets and gives the proceeds to Texas Children's Hospital. I know I would like to go to Saturday's game but it is sold out. Unfortunately, I will be travelling the weekend of the UCF game and I live in Houston, so mid-week games are not possible for me.

this is a perfect solution. even a tax deduction, right?
kicking long time donors out is not smart business.

I have an open email to Pottkotter on this, but McMurray told me at one time that you could donate your tickets directly back to the school as a qualified tax donation.

It's the same concept of the operation sell outs that we did where people would buy blocks of tickets and donate them to the school to be distributed to area residents/students.

I know people in basketball that do this too. I think this will work itself out with increased demand. Be patient.

If you bring them by the Special Delivery spot, we always have guest that

are there to support the Mustangs that need extra tickets.
. Good to know. If I keep the tix, I'll do this next season.

We will gladly offer you food and drink anytime.

Previous years buying tickets was the best way, helped with our total ticket sales numbers.

I've been wondering about the empties in the red sections. Is it that a lot of the high dollar folks are just hanging out the whole game in the MEC and club areas or are they just not showing up at all?
