These two quarterbacks are unbelievably bad. Who in the hell thinks they can play Div. 1? The statics for both of them were abysmal. I think Phil needs to reconsider Phillips or his redshirting plans. Unbelievable. I am so pissed at how pathetic the O is.

This was a pathetic...PATHETIC...football game. Our first poster here said it correctly. It's the same old [deleted], just two years removed. And speaking of removal, how about Phil Bennett. In fact, how about the whole coaching staff? Did we make any, ANY adjustments on offense or defense to try and counter what Baylor was doing? How about going into a 4-3, non-pressure defense in the 4th quarter when Baylor had 3rd and 2? What the hell? I'm sorry, but this game has totally killed my faith in SMU football. I was going to go to College Station. But not now. Honestly, I wouldn't even suggest anyone to go to SMU football home games now. Not only can we not enjoy the game without the SMU PD acting as Hitler's SS, but we can't even "upset" the Baylor Bears , who have NOT won a home game in FOUR YEARS!!! SMU is looking at a repeat from 2 years ago, and no one should stand for it.

Goodbye Bennett, indeed!!!

SMU doesn't have the guts to hire a guy like Rick Neuhesiel. The only way SMU hires a high profile coach is if the big money donors i.e. (Hunts, Ford, Dedman family etc....) say enough is enough and tell Turner and Copeland we don't want to watch this crap anymore, and we're pulling our monetary support.

I like Bennett but I can't see him getting this team to more than 2 wins this year. And if he doesn't improve on last year's record he should be let go. I hope I am wrong. If Bennett is gone you have to think Copeland will be booted as well. If that's the case I'd like to see the school go after Neuhesiel, or get Darrell Dickey and Ramon Flanigan to the Hill Top. Dickey and Flanigan have done way more with less. I believe they could utilize the resources of SMU to the fullest extent and get the Mustangs on track. As for the AD situation I want a "Dave Maggard" type of guy that doesn't take any bs or makes excuses, and promotes the program through aggressive scheduling and just wants SMU to be on the national stage. That being said the defense look much improved. The defense was the reason SMU was in the game. The only problem was they were out on the field way too long. The offense was crappy. Eckert and Romo couldn't comlete a pass as usual. The o-line couldn't hold anybody as usual.

The only thing Bennett has going on offense are the running backs and Romo's running. He should seriously think about switching to the option attack. That's the only way I see the offense putting points on the board without the defense helping them

Wow - good thing nobody's overreacting.

Here's the thing: size matters. We were winning into the third quarter. If anyone was the moron, it was Guy Morriss for not pounding away with Mosley earlier. In the first half, Shaun Bell was terrible, yet they kept telling him to throw. Meanwhile, Mosley was moving the ball behind that monster offensive line, and they didn't give him the ball more.

BU might well have the biggest OL we'll see all year, and that includes the aggies. It's not that BU was any better (frankly, neither team played well). But maybe because it's in the Bog 12, they are stronger.

you know I thought Baylor's offensive line would be the difference all the time but you do realize that they have a different philosophy than Phil who doesn't want them as Big as Baylor's boys. SMU had Lineman 6-4 to 6-6 which at Baylor would probably be expected to weigh in at the 320 range. I thought the SMU interior defense actually played much better than expected esp the first 2 1/2 Quarters-and I know I was pretty [deleted] them because they hadn't proven anything yet at this level. The problem is that we are now in Phil's 4th year and we just have not been able to sign the quality and numbers of players we need to excel in the lines and I really don't think they are on campus yet. Too many people are fixated with size and weight and not enough are look at whether our guys are athletic and quick. I guess Darrin Johnson is an exception. At Baylor he's be 325.

That'd be true before Guy, but Guy is playing with Steele's players and that's why you are seeing the HUGE guys. Guy's plan is to take TEs and grow them into OL. He values the ability to move more than size.

Jason Smith, the TE that caught the 30+ yard pass tonight, is the perfect example. Came to Baylor as a 6'5" 235 TE; after a RS year he's 270, and next year he'll probably move to tackle as a 6'5" 295 OT that can move like a TE. Apparently he went from being a 4.6 guy to being a 4.7 guy, after putting on the extra 35 pounds. The coaches think he'll still be running in the 4.7s aat 290-295, but even if he slips into the 4.8s, that's dang fast for a lineman that big.

We recruited three or four TEs this year, and only one of them is slated to stay at the position. The rest are going to be bulked up and moved inside. By 2006 the line will reflect what Guy wants. Until then, we'll make do with guys like McDonald that is 6'5" 340. He's a great runblocker, but just can't have the feet he needs for pass protection at that weight. And he dropped 25 pounds this offseason!
