Innocent question. It's obvious we'd have room for Mike, the linebacker. But with our recruiting success right now -- and with questions of roster fit -- is it a slam dunk, pardon the pun, that we'd necessarily want the younger brother basketball player?

He's the #23 player in the 2015 class.

JJ said at his Signing Day thing that with more players transferring these days, he ideally would like to hold a few spaces open each year for guys who flip schools, often to get nearer to home. He even said a couple of guys had called that day, although he obviously couldn't say whether it was this guy or someone else.

Man, this would be awesome.

Ok, East. But Thomas, McClure, Davis, Matthews, Briscoe are all higher ranked for 2015. And is Mitchell better than Hogg? Not saying we could get all of any of those guys. Just asking.

Wouldn't hurt if he and J.R. Reed are really good friends, too.

First of all, the fact we're even debating whether we'd want the #23 player in the nation in basketball is just absurd. Dallas Hall needs to be renamed Larry Brown Hall

But, to your question- I don't know what kind of fit he is for Larry's system. I think we'll have 5-6 ships to give for 2015 so I'd think ultimately there's room for him but hoopmanx would be the one to ask, not me.

Didn't hoopmanx say we could sign as many as 7 players?

SMU is living right. Mike Mitchell looks like he could step right in a start at linebacker. If we get his brother Mickey that would be a blessing. Watched Mickey Mitchell's "ball is life" youtube basketball highlight video, seems very active, very creative, and very unselfish. Every highlight video has him driving to the basket and either dunking or dishing with style. Didn't look like any of his highlights were of him shooting the ball. The kid is not afraid of taking the ball to the rack! Could be an exciting edition to our Class of 2015.

I've seen him shoot, looks like a great shooter. He seems to play with a lot more control than most top recruits.
I would take him in a heartbeat.

I can't believe that June would sign Mike Mitchell given that he does not have any tape on him from last year! That said, a positive as far as June is concerned, is that he was hurt last year. If he had a broken leg that would be a bonus!

Our front 7 wouldn't be too shabby if Mitchell transferred here and Pope returned to play the other ILB spot. Sanders, Yenga, and/or Seals at the two outside LB spots and everyone returning on the DL....secondary is still a mess though

Family health problems is the number one reason given for any transfer and we all know that is rarely the case. Playing time, maturity issues, lack of competitive fire?????

According to OhioBrownFan on the basketball board, the father's health concern is legit

Bump

Any news on this? Have they made a choice of where they are ending up?

Will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Did some research and his dad is Ken Mitchell, who played with the Falcons for a couple of seasons in the early 70s, a few years before June played there.
