As Dooby had mentioned in another thread, I had put together a Fire Copeland t-shirt earlier this year. Though it was a decent first pass I wanted to get some input from the Ponyfan faithful. I have attached a few other options below but I would love to hear your opinions and your ideas.
Should the shirt be red or white?
Logo on the front as well as the back?
Should we just get rid of Copeland or should we include Bennet?
Would you be willing to buy one?
After I pull everything together and get your thoughts I will post a copy of the shirt in this thread. They should be available to purchase on the BLVD by the Tulane game.
If anyone is willing to help with the graphics I sure would appreciate that as well. I have a good T-shirt person but their graphics work is just okay(and mine is pretty crappy).
Here is the original that I thought about when Jim went on his mission during the summer:
1.
2.
3.

It should definitely include the new logo that everybody seems to hate.

I understand the frustration, but think twice about this. Letters, emails, visits to Turner and repeated letters would be much more effective than tshirts.
I'm frustrated, but I would never wear a tshirt like that. This is somebodys life and livelihood. Dont make it personal.

Would that be a vote to Fire the SMU Athletic Director that Created the Mess WEe Are In
Think of SMU fans and Alumni as stockholders. Think of Copeland as the CEO of Mustang Athletics.
As CEO, Copeland is 2 of 2 in hiring Bad Football Coach's. He fired Rossley who is doing a better job at a higher level.
Basketball has only been to the NIT once since he has hired as AD.
Our successful track program has been shut down as well.
In fact, tell me one sport that is better since our Sports CEO showed up to run this company.
Copeland has done a miserable job and needs to be replaced before he can do more harm. I understand that you are against the personal aspect of this approach but the AD position is a public position like a CEO. I am sure that if this was a real company that he was running he would have been "let go" long ago. So I stand by my decision to aim this campaign at Jim Copeland and in doing so let the rest of the SMU community know that there are some of us who are tired of this individual and would like him replaced.

President Turner has heard our comments...it is difficult to fire a loyal "yes man".
The Board is not made up of SMU Alumns, I doubt that they have heard our complaints, nor share our "Vision"
Buy a shirt, give it to a student...they will wear it and then call the Dallas Morning News.

I wouldn't support the firing of the Bennet. I am of the opinion that Copeland is the problem and has been for quite some time. Unfortunately he always seems to dismiss the coaches and let them take the fall for his inability to have a successful program.
Another tshirt suggestion " Copeland, You're Fired!".
It is this man's livelihood but he isn't doing a good job and hasn't for years. He should be held accountable.

Personally, I'd be more in favor of a "Fire the SMU Board of Trustees" T-shirt.

I think you should keep the slogan simple, " Fire Copeland". Just like the "Fire Cavan" bumper stickers of years past. But "BrianTinBigD's" second post gave me an idea. On the front (I prefer a red t shirt") you should have "Fire Copeland" and on the back list his "accomplishments". Something like...
Milestones under Copelands Tenure:
- (Record of Football since '95 with win %, I can't find it)
- 1 winning Football season during tenure.
- No NCAA Tournament appearances in Basketball.
- Elimination of nationally ranked Men's Track and Field program
etc, etc.

I want Coach Bennett to succeed. He is young, he has passion and works hard. He does need a mentor. He has made some bonehead calls, at least they seem to have been, but this is his first head coaching position. At other schools former successful coaches would occupy some senior position in the athletic department, if not AD then Honoray or Senior AD. I have always thought we should have both a Senior or Advisory AD, such as Hayden Fry or Emory Bellard, then a true executive AD, that runs the business and management side of things. Regardless, these have to be people that want to be here and have a passion for the university.

By all means, keep it simple. Don't talk about baseball teams; don't call him "Copeland"; personally, I keep the track team out of it. Stick to football and basketball.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

"FIX IT!" That is what the slogan ought to be. "FIX IT!"
"FIX IT!"-a declaration.
"FIX IT!"-an order.
"FIX IT!"-a statement.
"FIX IT!"-assumes it is broken.
