2 wins one way or another has nothing to do w trajectory or momentum. you have no idea how this roster was assembled or who the trigger pieces were, so do me a favor and spare me w/your hoops recruiting expertise. We work [deleted] the trail but we make our own breaks. if we get Myles, it won't be b/c of a few wins. For chrissakes, he's a one and done, top 5 kid. You think getting Frazier had anything to do w him liking smu more? Better yet, why did Moreira end up here? What about Kennedy?

This discussion best handled "off line".

Always is, but you guys sit here and act like crowd noise or a win here or there matters w top 5 kids. Grow up. I founded and ran an aau program, sat on couches during in homes, and market grassroots for the fastest growing apparel brand in the world. That ish doesn't matter but on the rarest of occassions[/quote]
If it is better handled offline then why do you even reference it? Let people talk about whatever they want, they are having fun.

Hoopman, what are the top 3 things that one and dones look for in your opinion? Granted each kid probably has various things they look for. Is it purely just who has the best potential to win a National Championship?

At the same time, if we weren't winning and didn't have support I don't think we would even be in the discussion.

hoopmanx, I'd be interested to hear what you do consider to be the top considerations for top 5 kids. I've seen you mention a number of things that don't matter, but I'd be curious to see what does.

I admittedly don't have any insight into that part of the world, I just love college basketball.

An educated fan base is a good basketball fan base. So far, we're neither. People can talk about what they want, but if they are wrong, I'm here for ya lol

If he wants:

a.) to be seen on National TV every game.
b.) be in a large city with an NBA team down the street and a major media market.
c.) be close to home.
d.) make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
e.) play for a HOF coach who has significant connections to the NBA.
f.) play in front of a rabid fan base.
g.) play for a coaching staff that has former NBA players who have made it in the NBA.

He needs to look no further than where he was sitting last night...

This kid is awesome and will make it wherever he goes. His dad is on the money with the following quote:

“Whenever he decides to go, he’ll make a name for himself,” his father, David Turner, said. “His ultimate goal isn’t to get in the NBA, but to stick around, to be on that third or fourth contract.”

Yeah tell us what the hell you are talking about Hoopmanx. "If you guys only knew how dirty guys like me in AAU are...." That what you mean? Look if you aren't going to ever say what you mean I'd appreciate you stop making veiled insinuations of the gangsta underworld of AAU basketball on an SMU board. BTW with regard to your attack on bandwagon SMU fans-how many SMU games have you been to this year-How many SMU games have you ever been to in your life?

1) perks/package
2) exposure
3) position, possibly system
4) surrounding talent
5) brand affiliation
6) lack of academics

Well Oklahoma State sure has us on #6. Ability to read not required for that degree (See Dexter Manley).

First, it's not an attack on bandwagon fans, we need them. It's the lack of knowledge in the fan base w/regards to big time hoops. It can make for annoying uninformed discussion, see you thinking a few wins matters in trajectory/momentum, or the thread about whether nic Moore returns. Hell, someone wanted Manuel cut after a great performance last night. As for games attended, I've been to tons in my life, not many the past few years since I'm basically never in Dallas except for grassroots events

If we're talking one and domes, why would they even want to mess w one semester of class? Pass them and move them along.

Judging based on the interviews with Myles, he's definitely not stupid. In fact, sounds like one of the few intelligent one and dones, so i doubt 6 something Myles is looking at

Intelligent for a one and done is focusing almost completely on hoops. It's not a matter of whether or not they are book smart kids.

There's a definite lack of college basketball knowledge in the SMU fan base and it's not limited to the "bandwagoners". I'm as guilty as anyone, particularly when it comes to the recruiting/AAU/branding world.

There's only a few people on this board that help the "situation" and hoopmanx is one of them. I won't begrudge them a few exasperated/frustrated posts if they don't begrudge the rest of us a little ignorance of things that are not central to our lives/professions. I feel like that's a reasonable compromise.
