Wonder if Buzz would have brought us this far in year 2 as LB has?

Buzz would not have us where LB does.

Buzz would look at the SMU job as a downgrade and - consequently - not bring the energy, enthusiasm and work ethic like LB has. LB was grateful for being given a chance to coach again and - more importantly - prove to the world that he is a great coach.

If he can win a National Championship at SMU he will go down as one of the top 1-2 coaches ever.

One of the big time donors sat in on the Brown interview just so he could meet him and afterward said it was the most impressive interview he has ever been a part of. Brown absolutely lit the room up......

If he is able to win a national championship at SMU there will be no debate. Larry Brown will go down as the unquestioned greatest coach ever. If he's able to make SMU a national champion at this stage of his life after being out of the college game for 25 years and out of the game entirely for 3 years then he's in a class by himself.

Also, be would probably be remembered as the guy who won a national championship at smu before any other gig he had...which is effing remarkable.

Wooden, Auerbach, Brown

Better than Phil as the NBA is largely about lottery picks, payroll, ect.

SMU is making it out of whole cloth. Kinda like Butler.

No one will have the credentials and pedigree Brown would have if he takes one of the most moribund basketball programs in the nation in a region of the country where college basketball barely has a pulse, while in his freaking 70's, to a national title. That is just plain crazy. No one will have done anything like it. They make movies about that kind of sh*t.

Relax Miami (OH). I guess I just see SMU as not having the basketball pedigree of the programs linked to those coaches. If Brown wins a title here I think that trumps all of them combined.

Did they do it in their 70s? After winning an NBA title?
