Seeding Question

Postby Dallashoops22 » Sun Mar 09, 2014 11:01 am

I've been talking trash to my Longhorn and Baylor friends about how we are the best team in Texas. Last night, they were telling me that both UT and Baylor would have better seeds than SMU.

How is that possible if we are ranked higher in the polls?

RPI. We played a weak OOC schedule.

Not to worry, we are the best team in Texas so keep up the S talk

Everyone keeps talking about RPI being the determining factor in seeding in the tourney, but yesterday during the games, the ESPN networks (as well as CBS) were looking at BPI with teams.

How does a Wichita State have such a strong RPI and BPI when they did not play a single ranked team all year? I realize some of the teams they played did get ranked at one point, and still may be ranked, but not when they played them.

Pretty simple, it's Because Wichita St won every game.

Yup this. Win your games and your RPI will be high. On top of that, they didn't play awful teams either OOC that I can think of off the top of my head, that also contributes. BPI is ESPN's new baby that they're trying to push through to have another monopoly too fwiw.

Are you sure bcs was talking about BPI. I did not notice that in our game and it would surprise me since it is a calculation ESPN recently came up with.

That's what I was telling them, but they said their conference is the top conference and would get 7 out of 10 teams in the tournament

Our game was on ESPN2, I don't know about the CBS network (I thought so, but could be wrong). It just seemed like the games I was watching yesterday were using that instead of RPI. No clue, just wondering. I do agree with some of the previous posts, it does seem like 11 or 12 has an easier road than 8 or 9.

They were drunk. It's ok. I'd be drinking too if I went to Baylor . . . drowning misery and all.

Good point about our game, no wonder I did not notice CBS talking about BPI, I did not watch any games on their network.

I don't think the selection committee will even look at BPI imo.

Well, I'm holding Big 12 to their name, so if they get 7, then it's 7 out of 12! :D
