How much would this be affected by a solid early commit? I know that there are schools who would still see if he might change his mind, but if Padron's not listening is Rivals really going to capture that?

You know I kinda doubt there will be too much reevaluation until after the season. The focus is not on recruiting now but on high school and college seasons. I know that sometime in early January when it becomes more clear about Senior year performance, actual post season visits and offers and which players are really hotly contested there is usually a big reevaluation week or so. Sometimes early commitments especially eary early commitments are probably unfairly evaluated by a straight star system-I agree. (Sometimes they are overrated too-there are SMU guys that might apply to as well-for example we've got a couple of WR kids that for whatever reason haven't really produced much in their Senior seasons)

There's a pretty good write up on scout this morning. Among the highlights:
1. Padron is totally committed to SMU and isn't looking anywhere else (well... what else is he going to say? But I'm a pollyanna so I believe him).
2. On his brother he's quoted as saying:
He loves it [at SMU] The coaching staff has been great to him; he loves Coach Jones and the entire staff. Academically it’s a lot more challenging than North Texas, but he is adjusting well
Sounds like a true Mustang already.
3. He's not bothered by Mitchell being here for 3 more seasons. He's a competitor and wants to play but doesn't feel that he's ready for D1a and could use a redshirt year.
That's got to be the toughest question for the kid. I mean, you don't want to sound like you're affraid of competition, but you also don't want to sound like you expect to start from day one. I thought he split the difference pretty well.

I am personally very pleased with Padron, his brother, and all that they can bring to SMU's program. And it appears that others take Padron seriously as well (Darius Johnson and Chayse Joubert for starters).
To me, these are very reasonable recruits to SMU given who Jones & Co. are and what this staff is doing with this team in the coming 4 years.

Kyle Padron just went in to get xrays on his hand. He injured it in the first half against FM Marcus tonight.

Padron suffered a fractured hand during the game and will be out at least 4 weeks.

This is good for us. I wish Kyle a speedy recovery, but hopefully this will keep other programs from offering because he will have such a small body of work.

that could be the end of southlake's season... coach wasson has done a marginal job with the talent he has... they need to find a way to get dodge back

He wasn't going to get any other offers but glad you are happy he is hurt....
Bet your happy Cayse Joubert has been out for most of the season also.

David Piland is more than adequate backup and though I don't think he'll replace Padron, many SLC fans have been anxious to see him get a chance.
