I cycled in and out of watching the game last night as the Caps/Penguins game was on at the same time and then my wife came in the room and declared "no basketball". First, we were laying bricks all night from outside. Wide open looks clanked. Second, even when covered Rice was silly good from the outside, burying threes from way downtown. When we narrowed the lead to three, Rice hit two threes that were covered well. Third, Rice packed in their zone to force us to shoot from outside because they knew we were cold. The only way to break that zone is to make them pay, and we couldn't get it done. I liked our hustle. We did switch off between man and zone to confuse things. The zone was a pressure zone 1-3-1. I think this loss was more of a perfect storm, Rice was hot from the outside, and we couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Someone mentioned tired legs and certainly that does affect outside shooting. Faye particularly was shooting low arc shots from the outside early on. McCoy was getting some air under the ball, but his aim was way off and his shots looked more forced than other players. The team did show heart and effort to climb back into the game.

And that an inside layup or (God forbid) a dunk are higher percentage shots then the garbage he was throwing up last night from the outside. That's why we have point guards, so we can see THEM miss shots from outside 10 feet.
we young, baby....
Yeah we're young, but that doesnt always mean things will get better. Of the 4 Rice players that scored in double figures against us, all were underclassmen, 1 junior, 1 sophomore, and 2 freshmen. And Rice is bringing in a VERY strong recruiting class for next year. They wont be a doormat for long, and next year I think they will be better than SMU.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

It was totally a joke. We've heard it for years and years and years in football and bball.
