There are many things at SMU not to give a damn about. June Jones has changed the culture for the better and he can wear nothing but a lei as far as I'm concerned. So sorry he's offended some here by not sporting a Brooks Brothers blazer and seersucker.

The POINT is that he is not LOYAL to SMU-or ANY of its traditions. Seriously would it be too hard to design a red or blue Hawaiian shirt-he could specially design it and sell copies for his favorite charity. Is there a single SMU tradition he embraces? A single one?

I think we need to get coach to wear a nice navy blue cardigan tied around his waist. That way his red Varsity Shop pants won't slump and cover his Cole Haans.
This argument is beyond stupid.

If it helps us win football games then more power to him. If he needs to get rid of the shirt and wear a grass skirt and paint his face and it helps us win, go for it!

I don’t' care if he wears a see-through Speedo with coconut shell brassiere as long as he is winning at SMU. And so far he is.

Thsay, I ththink he's thstylen with ththat Lei. After a win he thshould feed it to ththose handsome gelding to make thsure ththey are getting enough roughage in ththeir diet. I would just love to thsee JJ on the thsidelines in thsome red, peeptoed cowboy boots, thsurffer dude pony trunks, mustang motif Hawaiian thshirt, and a "Lilly Pulitzer" designed cowboy hat. If you don't like ththe ensemble he can hit you with thhis over ththe thshoulder man bag filled with Mana. Aloha pardner.

This is the point. No one who is annoyed at the lei thing is seriously asking June to wear a stetson, or boots, or seersucker, or a white sundress. All we are asking is that if "traditions" and "respect" are so important and sacred, that June shows us that it's not just Hawaii traditions he respects. I generally try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it is almost as if June has intentionally fostered a perception that he just doesn't really give a crap about SMU, its fans, its history, or its traditions, and the lei is just one more thing to add to the list of "f-- you" type actions.
