Interesting contrast-both SMU and UH would cut each others throat to get that last spot but almost universally both fanbases see the value of both getting in. On the other hand, every time TCU made a move their fanbase went to great lengths hoping that they would go alone.

You've got to be kidding. Ever been in a 7-Eleven? All of those [Gary Patterson]s have UH degrees.
7-Elevens are nothing more than Korean Embassies.

If distance to all our conference games in the BE wasn't an issue I would say cut UH out. But then our closest conference game is in Colorado Spring? Long way away.

There's potential in an SMU/UH rivalry that has never been developed. If memory serves, UH didn't even join the SWC until like 1978 or 1979. When SMU was dominant, UH was terrible. Then we came back from the DP and it was the opposite. A few years later, we parted ways. Now that both programs are back in the same conference and on the way up, it really could make for a nice rivalry. I'm all for cultivating natural rivalries and I hope we can keep it going with UH in an AQ conference. UH will never replace TCU as the main rival. But they could become our Texas A&M (oblique UT reference).

The Cotton Bowl President saying he didn't want UH because all of the 7-11's would be robbed by the black students

if this happens, how pissed will ECU fans be? They have great fan support, a good program, but they are 1-4 this year and have no media market in a state controlled by UNC/NC St/Duke and have poor academics.

I know. I was making a joke as though they were left behind with the nobodies. Bad joke, I know. It's Friday. I think I'm done pretending to work and going to head home to prepare for tomorrow's game.

Don't kid yourself, the season so far didn't play into their consideration.

ECU is left out in the cold. They have great attendance but little in the way of TV market. They will be champions of CUSA, which even if we leave it I hope it grows and continues to have success. No telling how long the Big East will last, even if we get to join.
CUSA will have to pluck 3 teams to replace UCF, UH, and SMU. I wonder who they will take. Will be interesting to see the shuffle to continue and work its way down through the conferences.
