could we even get in a real conference without a football team?
does Georgetown or Villanova have football teams?
I guess the Xavier Musketeers don't have a football team?
but God what would we do with Ford?

Those are Catholic schools. SMU is Methodist.

Riley would be a home run-I would think a bunch of schools would want him but I guess some P5 don't want to take a chance with a first year coach with no head coaching experience-not even in high school. Realize though we could be grooming the next Texas Tech head coach. The AAC is obviously quickly becoming the desired testing ground for P5 schools
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

No [deleted]. It's why we need to nail the next TV contract and make it a clear Power Six or at least Power Five +1.

Saturday was a DISGRACE

Storming the Field against UH in front of 4,000 was an embarrassment

SMU has the right Coach right now but despite the fact that Morris and staff have fully engaged the community and outworked its competitors, SMU alumni, students, family and friends just don't give a [deleted]

You're not going to hear any criticism from me if Chad Morris bails. SMU "fans" deserve it

It's sad that we bashed JJ for quitting on SMU after realizing there just isn't much support for the program. JJ quit at a time when if he and his staff made half the effort Chad and his staff have, we could be at a completely different level right now and JJ could have moved on to big bucks and an attractive P5 job. I think we can all agree the SMU community is it's own worst enemy

Need brands to "nail" a TV contract, Jamie Pollard had a really funny quote about what the Big 12 would be without Texas and Oklahoma

"The Big 12 exists because we have Texas and Oklahoma in the room. If we take Texas and Oklahoma out of the room, we're the Mountain West Conference, and we're getting $3 million [per year in TV revenue]."

Rebel10 wrote:SMU could have had a packed stadium every game and Morris still would have left for Baylor. At Baylor he won't have to beg for an IPF and he won't have ultra old school fans that get upsnet if they wear black uniforms. Baylor is a better job regardless of the what some SMU fans think.

Of course it is a better job, simply by virtue of being in a P5 conference and having legitimate support for the program. Chad would be a home run hire for them and might actually allow them to compete with Texas and OU going forward. Texas will not remain a doormat for long but without the right man for the job, Baylor could easily return to form as a cellar dweller

Let's hope it is announced quick;y so that SMU does not lose to many good recruits that the next coach may want.

That's the bottom line if Chad is in fact leaving...can this recruiting class be salvaged and is there a HC candidate out there who could convince those kids to follow through on their "commitments"? Reality is that most kids commit more to a coaching staff than to the school they decide to attend.
