A. Coach Jones doesn't have a mascot. He lent his name and support to a program designed to save animals from being killed, and having two of them at football games brings some level of visibility to it.
B. The band, like the cheerleaders, poms, the Manada Wranglers of yesteryear and other organizations exist to support the school, its athletic department and the teams ... yet you choose to not play for the team because of your hangup over Coach Jones' charity project? That's embarrassing.
C. As long as Coach Jones is here - and considering how much more fun the back-to-back bowls have been than the 20-plus bowl-less seasons they followed, I hope it's a hell of a long time - the Mustangs aren't going anywhere. We might even see the stupid black jerseys again. Get over it. We all love Peruna and recognize him as the official mascot, but you don't play for mascots and you don't play for laundry. You play for the team and the fans.
