In addition to Klemm-UCLA has now hired the best recruiters from ArizonaSt and now University Of Washington. Hopefully no room for some of the SMU guys at UCLA which is already at 18 recruits

UCLA has 4 big( 300 pounds +) Offensive linemen committed as part of that 18, including a Samoan from Euless Trinity.

so let's see-UCLA is hiring a kid who grew up in Pasadena, another who grew up in LA and another who grew up in LA. Heck even the Head Coach grew up in LA. What connections and roots do the present SMU coaching staff have with Dallas/FW (or Texas) which produces more Division 1A prospects than any Metro area in the Country. I wonder where UCLA is planning to focus their recruiting-Texas perhaps

It'll be interesting to see if this new staff can make UCLA relevant again in the PAC. I grew up on the west coast and UCLA was usually a power in those years. Its been a long time since they've done much of anything though. Along with Texas A&M and Notre Dame, I consider this one of the enduring mysteries of college football. How could UCLA not be relevant?

With respect to SMU, we'll be fine. SMU is a very attractive place (now) to work, compensation will be competitive, and everyone who works for June seems to think he's the greatest boss ever. June will bring in someone good. Hopefully with NFL connections and good Texas contacts.

Sucks for us. He seemed like a genuinely good guy and was a great recruiter for SMU. I'll miss Klemm and wish him the best.

Congrats to Mr. Klemm. He has a couple homes out that way and was always upfront about wanting to get back that way.
Thank you for what you have done to help SMU grow and take steps to become a BCS competitor.

JJ will find a great fit to replace AK.

This is a good sign people.... Other schools want our coaches because they are good. Now we get good for a while and the coaches stay a bit longer.

JJ's dad is in his 80's and plays golf everyday..... Maybe JJ stays till he is 70?

Who knows. We need to win and keep improving our standards. Just like life.

Merry Christmas to all.

Here's a name to replace Klemm as a top-notch recruiter:

THAD!

Great salesman for SMU because of his love of the institution.

Stuck with SMU through thick and thin.

Likes BBQ.

Knows a lot of people all over the place, especially in Arkansas radio-land.

Has done more to raise the profile of this football team than almost anyone in the past 25 years.

I vote for Thad to replace Klemm. Thad, do you know how to coach the O-Line?
/No Hate. Just Facts. Occasional sarcasm.

plenty of unemployed, or I should say soon to be unemployed coaches this time of year. Have to trust the HC to know his needs, but also might need to wait to see what the total staffing needs might be...like he said in today's interview.

I'm going to be optimistic and believe this recruiting class is not going to fall apart just because Klemm is leaving. I assume he's happy to be going back home

All this speaks to the crazy nature that has become college football. All about the bling and money. I was pleased that Klemm had publicly stated he was staying, everything was fine. Now this. Lies and betrayal. Yes, I realized the day would come and Klemm would leave, just not now, and in this fashion.

Go Ponies!
