I should also mention that the PAC for us wouldn't be as glorious as it sounds. While a lot on here dream of us playing USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Stanford on a regular basis, our football division would be an "Eastern Division" that would look like this:
Arizona
Arizona State
Utah
Colorado
SMU
Houston
Eastern School A
Eastern School B
With Eastern Schools A & B being some schools that are worse than us and Houston (UNLV and New Mexico?)

If the PAC wants to make a run at building up basketball... they would consider New Mexico. I do think that New Mexico needs some work before it gets to PAC caliber however. Just looking at the imagery of New Mexico - Their Logo is outdated and needs updating. I think they have potential however...
pac #16 is confusing however. Do they fill the gap in Nevada? Go with Boise? I am not sure.

Unm's current logo set is less than 7 years old

Tulane? Tulsa?
Not that many good options for the PAC, to tell you the truth.

Which is exactly the point. They dont have many good options.
An extension to Texas is probably as far as they would go. My guess is:
In a few years or less - PAC will invite Houston and SMU as #13 and #14
#15 and #16 might be NMU and UN but they might be another time. Maybe even Hawaii

Well, this pretty much flies in the face of everything we've discussed

The very fact that he discussed the possibility of looking at those schools tells you that they are very far down the list.

Also, as I've preached for months...
"We're always going to have good choices," Scott said. "We're strong academically, financially, exposure-wise. So I don't feel any pressure or any kind of rush (to expand) right now. I don't see right now how we're at any disadvantage whatsoever staying at 12. We like who we are."

Makes sense from a West Coast point of view. The academic side not so much. I know Boise is not that strong academically, can't speak for SDSU.

I thought it was odd that Scott said the Pac-12 isn't in those markets right now. Boise, maybe, but it's not a big market to begin with. But you're telling me there's not a ton of UCLA/USC/Stanford/Cal/ASU/Arizona alums living in San Diego? Huh?

Conference commissioners are in the business of putting forward misinformation so that the real business dealings can get done without media coverage influencing the negotiations.

Right before the SEC took Missouri, Slive was talking about how the SEC would just play with 13 members for a few seasons.

That is a very good observation. But don't you know the Boise State and SDSU message boards must be lighting up!

Make sure you look at the context in the story. The commish said that they would use the same evaluation criteria as last time. He mentioned market, but that means academics will come into play as well. Then he said "sure, since you are asking about those schools, sure they will be in consideration." He would have given the same exact answer if someone asked him abou uc irvine.
He did not come out and just say they were taking a hard look at Boise and sdsu. Don't misinterpret it.
