Yeah, but we know our corners aren't good. Why no safety help up top?

Please correct of I'm off base, but seems like the decision was to instill and teach the defense now for long term success vice amending to match current players "skill level" to do better now.

I just don't see how you can set your guys up for failure all year long

Ok our dbs are not good. Why continue to play man to man with no help over the top. There is almost never any help. Yes the db getting beat is on him but no safety over the top is play calling and coaching. And this garbage about installing the defense for the future give me a break. The goal is to win games now. You play to the strengths of your players not their weaknesses.

Great kick inside the one!

Downside? It'll give Temple more room to pad their stats against this Van Malone defense!

The corner that got beat is our best defender. And yes the safety was also out of position. I can assure you Malone does not coach them to run the wrong direction. At some point you have to admit we do not have the same talent. If it was just scheme or just coaching, we could stop recruiting and just throw any 11 people off the street out there.

I would assume the thought process recognizes they weren't going to set the world on fire this season, so install and teach the scheme so the incoming players are learning it from the returning guys, not with the returning guys.

I can see the upside, but you have to be confident you can still bring in the big guys on defense no matter how bad they look this season.

Defensive line = overwhelmed
Linebackers = small and slow
DB's = no instincts and soft

Combine that with a first year coordinator who looks way in over his head and this is what you get.

We were in a zone defense and the corned bit on the QB running. Safety did not roll. Not the scheme, but the execution.

Ok even if the players are constantly out of position that STILL goes back to coaching. Clearly they can't teach their players to be in position. Not only do they get beat individually but they are also out of position which is coaching.

How do they miss the blatant hold in the end zone. Crap.

Whose job is it to get the players to execute?
