Great job by the team, especially the stretch without Ben in the first half. That was very positive.

That's absurd.

Sterling made a couple of bonehead plays in the last couple of minutes, free throw shooting is still very poor... but excellent defense and rebounding tonight!

Ben Moore really understands the Rule of Verticality-it works for him because he's got freakishly long arms. Saved 2 baskets tonite-and both were good calls

Our starting 5 is gelling and playing good basketball right now with much maligned Ben E is giving us solid minutes off the bench. The bad news is after those 6 the talent level falls off the cliff.

If they hadn't turned the ball over so much and made their free throws this game wouldn't have been close.

hopefully Mcdowell will get some decent minutes vs ECU.
Memphis is a decent team at home and he looked a little lost.

Both Shake and Jarrey played significant minutes last year and were big contributors. That prepared them to become starters this year, and I am very worried next year if we cant get some development from at least McDowell.

Ben and Sterling are going to be very hard to replace next year.

McDowell is still a project but I like his raw athleticism. I think once he learns his positioning he will turn into a really nice piece. The best thing about Sterling is his grit. I'm not sure where we will get that next year as Shake is pretty mellow and Jarrey seems pretty happy go lucky, but I'm not that worried about replacing what Sterling gives from a basketball perspective (which is not a knock on him at all). Jarrey is basically the same player except he is a bit faster but a slightly worse shooter. What is nice about shooting is you get better at it if you work at it. Ben Moore is one of the quickest best ball handling 6'8 guy I've ever seen that wasn't a one and done type player. BM is also a heck of a passer. He will be hard to replace from a basketball perspective.

Did Tubby ask them about that offensive goaltending call on Jarry? How about when his guy stepped out of bounds driving baseline to make a layup down the stretch? That's four points right there.

What game was Tubby watching?

His first taste of a hostile conference arena. He'll be ok.

with regard to McDowell-give it some time. At least when he comes in the ball keeps moving, SMU still runs its offense and he's aggressive on defense. At this time in Sterling Brown's freshman season he had scored 40 total points and was averaging about 3 points a game. We really have no choice than getting him significant minutes

Good Game SMU!

I thought Memphis played well on D, but you can't get out rebounded like that while going 3-15 (20%) from 3 point land.

I can't get upset with Dedric for his little mistakes because he's still just a kid...I mean, he turned 19 in October while your Duke transfer is 22...Dedric still has a lot to learn (meaning I'd like him back next season)

til next time!

Good defense by both teams gave the game a sloppy feel. Tubby's changing defenses did confuse us at times. But guts and smothering defense by the Ponies won the game.

Frosh take time to get to know the college game.

Then they kind of start over again when they play their first conference game, especially on the road.

Then they start over again when they play a tourney game.

He got his feet wet in the first half, and will get more and more time over the next couple of games. McDowell will be fine.
