We all knew this was a stepping stone for him. But the way he left was totally wrong. 1. Taking staff before a program building bowl game. 2. Went to Arkansas. That’s as classless as Herman going to UT. 3. Cherrypicking committed recruits. It put Dykes in a position of dumping recruits and that he left cupboard empty. I don’t see him succeeding in Hogville. SEC is too tough to have continuous success required by Arkansas fans.
Hog fans have had NO "continuous success" since they bolted from the SWC. They had 3 great years at the inception in basketball with Nolan Richardson and zip in football. Classic case of grass is greener complex. Having spent more than a year at Ak in post graduate work I fully understand their fans, but this is a case where a new conference relegates them to continuous middle to bottom of the pack status. Same situation with MD and Rutgers in the Big 10. MD was perfectly placed for every reason in the ACC with great rivals, regional proximity and easy fan travel in both basketball and football. Now their fans can enjoy trips to Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue where they have zero commonality. Money does very strange things that does not always work out. Rutgers is hopeless in the Big 10 and was much more comfortable in the AAC. They took the money and now years later it is apparent they cannot compete in either football or basketball and have never had a history of the commitment necessary to ever catch up.
They have had very good success in the SEC. Better than the Mississippis, Vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky, A&M, Tennessee in football. A few SEC West division championships. National Championship in BB, and throw in track and field and they have more total National Championships than any other SEC team. They are just overshadowed by Alabama the last few years. They are also one of the few teams in the nation that fully supports the athletic department with athletic proceeds.

And played this year for the baseball National Championship and would have won except for misplaying a foul pop up with 2 outs in the ninth.

I wonder if his players at arkansas think he’s as full of S as we do. I would love to be a fly on the wall there.
At least they beat eastern illinois. I would love to see them go 1-11 with only an fcs victory.
He didn’t want to be here. He probably doesn’t want to be there. I wonder if paula is enjoying Fayetteville.

Did he not say ΓÇ£if I can’t turn this around no one can?ΓÇ¥ Does they not suggest he was selling us on an intent to stay here to turn it around before leaving?
That’s how I took it. I didn’t believe it for long.

"I'm 59 and have been at, watched or listened to every game for 54 seasons. I cannot seriously think of any worse back to back weeks in Razorback football in those 54 years. Looking like a lock to beat CSU and losing, followed by getting blowed the F out by North Texas. Unimaginable under any circumstance. I have no other option than to be hopeful that CCM can get it turned around in a couple of years because he isn't going anywhere. That being said there are a lot of bad signs and this staff looks like deer in headlights right now."
His 2 favorites...........the 'full tilt boogie' and 'hammer down' are almost universally being mocked already as well.
The already painfully scripted, and Morris...ism filled press conferences are going to be unbearable after Auburn, A&M, and Alabama the next 3 weeks.

Don't think Paula is in Fayetteville. That's one of the fan gripes: that he didn't bring his family with him.

When he thought he was going to baylor he said that he had turned the program around. Job accomplished.

I don't know about Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc, but Vanderbilt has a much stronger last Decade than Arkansas in the SEC in the name sports:
Football
Vandy: 5 Bowls (3 wins), 0 SEC Titles
Arkansas: 6 Bowls (4 wins), 0 SEC Titles
Men's Basketball
Vandy: 7 NCAA Tournaments, 1 Sweet 16
Arkansas: 5 NCAA Tournaments, 0 Sweet 16
Baseball:
Vandy: 10 College World Series, 2 SEC Titles, 1 National Championship
Arkansas: 4 College World Series, 0 Championships
If you want to throw in some track and field National Championships for Arkansas, I will toss in a couple of Women's Bowling National Championships for Vandy. No argument that outside of beating SMU on the football field, Arkansas owned the 90s - so did Bill Clinton. But Nolan Richardson seems like such a long time ago - and don't forget that his recruits that won that championship were recruited into the
Southwest Conference and not the $EC.
Sadly, Vanderbilt is more relevant than Arkansas these days in the SEC.

I will give you that. The Beilema era was a bad time. Houston Nutt took UA to 3 SEC Championship games earlier. My point is that they have been SEC competitive and reached more SEC title games than most other schools. Their BB team is being revived, and their baseball team is very competitive. They do not have to be embarrassed that they are in the SEC, and leaving the SWC was the best move for them.

I agree that Arkansas made a good move to the SEC and is a good fit there. That move has just been reinforced by the subsequent defections of Missou and A$M from the Big XII. SEC West is "the place to be"...at least in the current world of college football. It's just going to make it that much harder for Chad to succeed at Arkansas.

Arkansas has a Sugar Bowl appearance and an 11-2 season in there for football though. Just breaking it down by bowl appearances is a pretty broad range.

"And don’t write this off as entirely Bret Bielema’s fault. The team Morris inherited is more talented than Colorado State and North Texas. A lot of the issues during this disastrous start should be attributed to coaching, not talent.
Arkansas blew an 18-point lead in the second half at Colorado State. The Hogs built that lead because they were the more talented team. They had a chance to put the game away on 4th-and-1 from the 50-yard line and holding a 10-point advantage to begin the fourth quarter. Instead, Morris opted to punt despite his running backs combining to average 6.3 yards per carry in the game. With that decision, Morris wasn’t playing to win, he was playing not to lose and it cost the Hogs."https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/arkan ... ebuilding/
