I guess we should all be pissed off at June for trying to start a new tradition here.....winning. What an a-hole.

We can probably all agree that the two most important things right now are winning and attendance. But I would argue that a close third is public perception of the program. That said, wearing a lei on the sidelines of a football game in Dallas just looks silly, and makes the program look silly. When we have battle for years for people to take us seriously, this doesn't help. If we can get a marque win or two under our belt, it won't matter near as much but until then, it does.

I guess I can see public perception outside of the SMU faithful being an issue, especially since we aren't completely blowing out the competition. You can handle all sorts of quirkiness if you have had dramatic turnarounds and are a team that can stand up to the competition week-in, week-out. Perfect example? Mike Leach at Tech with all that pirate crap. Yeah, he didn't have it on the field with him, but it certainly was widely known.

And the only reason I’m pissed off about the Lei is because I didn’t get one when I went to the Hawaii Bowl, and last winter I hit every Hawaiian Island still no [deleted] lei!
