Why? Because he's a 3* or because he doesn't have a single FBS or even FCS offer?
Do you really want to know Blackoutpony? Here goes...partly because he's a three star, partly because he has some size at 6' and I like tall receivers and we have't had many 6', partly because of who his dad is and that sometimes makes a difference as to the athlete, and partly because he is a Jr. college recruit and thus could have some maturity and fill in until some of the other recruits figure out the difference between college and high school I wouldn't want many Jr. college players, but a few would add some dept to the upper class (Jr's and Sr's we have coming back. I could go on with about seven or so more reasons but these I think are the main ones. On the other hand, I have been very impressed with the recruits we are now getting. So, it probably wont make too much of a difference.
By the way blackoutpony, why do you not like Crockett other than the lack of offers? Realize that Jr. college players are in another class and often do not pick up offers until late. As to late offers, that might be why he decommitted. I thought I saw something about him and Tulsa although I haven't seen anything official. Obviously if Tulsa (or someone else we play) gets him and he turns out to be good you might rethink your question.
well for 1 he will be 3 years removed from high school and will have had only a handful of plays at Tulsa. Never played JUCO football and he may have problems qualifying like he did out of high school. He was dismissed from Tulsa and his position coach at Tulsa is now at SMU

Well mr airplane, from watching his film, I'm just not very impressed. I'll give the kid credit for having hands and actually catching balls, but most of his picks in high school were on terribly, woefully thrown balls. He doesn't appear to be very fluid or have that good of instincts. There were several plays on his highlight reel where he never got his head around and got lucky. Not sure why that's a highlight. Playing speed appeared to be very meh. Yes that was his high school film, but that is what I could find.
He's not bad or anything, but he's not really an upgrade over what we have now IMO, and I'd rather get someone in there for 4 or 5 years instead of a quick rental who isn't an upgrade.
BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Crockett committed to Tulsa, his only offer, a week before signing day. Probably a favor from his recruiter, Darnell Walker, to Ray Crockett Sr. who both played in the NFL from 93-2000.
Magically jumped from a 2 star high school player to a 3 star Juco player without ever playing Juco.
Loepp was on the Tulsa staff during Crockett's brief tenure before he was booted off team.
Committed to the Jones regime based on the same NFL connections. Typical Jones.
Not a D1 player, and certainly not a Morris type recruit.
he's basically done nothing on a football field since high school in 2012. Yeah its a mystery how he was a 2 star in high school and is now a 3 star while inactive

Speaking of spoiled Southlake grads with ex-NFL fathers, has Kenny Trill announced where he is going to play next year?

It's interesting how quite it became all of a sudden. Since all schools are back in session I would have thought we would have heard where he enrolled. My first thought is, he is sitting out this semester or maybe he has entered a rehab program or something similar. Just guessing nothing more.
Stallion your the man! I have said before and I'll say it again. You've done your homework on this season's recruitment. Unfortunately for me, I have't the time that I would like to spend nor do I know where to get the details you obviously find. All I have had to go on is what I read on Rivals and Scout, etc. It looked to me like Crockett had played football in JC and at a JC that was known for developing players. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/r ... ett-159911
I'm not trying to be smart; I believe you over the pay sites...just sayin if Crockett didn't play JC ball than I don't know what one can believe coming from the internet.
BLACKOUTPONY - I also agree with you in that I thought Crockett looked a bit slow and not very smooth in moves.
Nonetheless, I would guess we are all pretty happy with this SMU class and the way the coaching staff have worked since they were brought on board. Tomorrow should be lots of FUN for PONYS!!!
Saw a tweet somewhere where Michigan was a spot behind us in rank. Unfortunately it was more of a shot a them than a huzzah to us, but still cool. 2018 might be fun.
