Re: Losing some height next year but gaining some shooters
Good lord, I don't know how half of you don't object to your wife's suggestion for dinner as hearsay. If we want "inside" information, it's all going to be rumors without much substantiation. Take what's said with a grain of salt, decide whether you want to believe it or not, and move on.
I appreciate the contribution of hoop and stallion but the amount of lawyering is getting ridiculous. No one can provide sources without throwing those people under the bus.

Re: Losing some height next year but gaining some shooters
Sorry, when someone comes on here claiming that SMU is committing "continued academic fraud" (his words not mine) then, yes I will take issue with that. In light of the problems at UNC, I just don't think that it should be loosely thrown out there on a public forum without substantiation.

HoopManX definitely positions subjective matter in an objective tone, which can come across as condescending.
Additionally, he has clearly been wrong as much as he has been right...if not more and has a tendency to 'move the goalposts' when discussing the current state of the program vs. his past predictions. He may or may not be connected, but undoubtedly a lot of the info he gets is purely speculative.

Re: Losing some height next year but gaining some shooters
I am really enjoying the LB era.
With the shortage of an inside presence next season, I'm hoping for a huge change regarding the Offense. I'd love to see an uptempo, fast paced/ fast break type of team. I've been very surprised by the slow down, score in the 60's style of play since LB has arrived. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a W regardless of the score, but I have to think we will see the "Runnin Ponies" next season with the way their roster is shaping up.

hoop generally knows what he's talking about, but one of his favorite things to do is post something cryptic to stir the pot, sit back, and watch typical ponyfan meltdown after meltdown.
It's comical how yall just keep playing into it. He might as well change his handle to puppetmasterx

I see, so we are being played? Ok. Don't take anything he says seriously? Can do. Like I said before, he blows out of both ends? Yep. Feel much better now. Thanks.

You mean the part about him generally knowing what he is talking about? What is general about "continued academic fraud at SMU"? He just threw it out there to stir the pot? Nice. Maybe you get off on that type of crap but I don't.

Re: Losing some height next year but gaining some shooters
HoopManX may have some inside knowledge within the program, but that doesn't mean he's more knowledgable about basketball than others on this thread. For example, a few days ago he said you don't need 7-footers to compete against the top teams in the country. Good luck having a realistic chance at beating Kentucky without any 7-footers...
I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: Losing some height next year but gaining some shooters
Even if Hoopmanx is accurately passing along what he's heard from inside sources, does it not bother anyone else that he's throwing it out here on the WWW for all to see?
IF he cares for SMU, he wouldn't do that. While it may be unlikely that the NCAA reads Ponyfans, what about all the other constituencies that could be negatively affected.... recruits, current players, family members, media, casual fans...
Just doesn't make sense to repeatedly spout stuff like this, regardless of the veracity of his claims.
By the way, I used to appreciate Hoopmanx's thoughts. He talked more about actual basketball and less about what he heard from some inside source. Let's get back to talking about basketball on the basketball boards.

Re: Losing some height next year but gaining some shooters
Hoopmanx is somewhat like the basketball version of JasonB. Both might know a coach or two on staff (JasonB's was on JJ staff) that they spread nits of propaganda for and both can be wrong on there analysis and predictions while they act like they are the authority at times. But whatever the case I just hope we don't get nailed with tough sanctions. Anyway a the positive note.
