These writers probably spend about :30 seconds on each of the 39-40 Bowls to project matchups. AAC office will likely not select teams that would be a rematch unless absolutely necessary

Would also be nice if the NCAA did not allow you to play a team that you already lost to in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Too soon... that USC game was horrible.

Good point. Most of those writers only care about the "tourney" selections and the other relevant bowls.

Or a battle of interim coaches.

Frisco Bowl (Frisco) Dec. 20 American vs. MAC/MWC
Projection: SMU vs. Akron

Akron senior quarterback Thomas Woodson became the school’s second all-time leading passer after throwing for 286 yards and three TDs in last week's 21-20 win at Buffalo. The Zips, who are one win shy of bowl eligibility, next visit Miami, Ohio on Nov. 7.

AAC vs MAC/WWC??? Who does this? I'd rather sit at home

Really? Buck up! We can't ever forget how hard this year's football team has had to fight to get to 6-2. Any pony fan should be glad to be able to go to a bowl to cheer the team on.

Agreed that we should be happy with a bowl game. I think we are speaking from a fan perspective, if it's in Hawaii or against a weak opponent it's not a lot of fun. I'll be happy for the team, but I really hope the AAC can work on getting better tie-ins. My hope is we have more P5 (even if they're the bottom of the barrel ones) and we cut ties with Hawaii (travel and timing suck) and any bowls with G5s outside of maybe MWC and CUSA.

we get it. we officially don't need any more people to weigh in on the undesirability of frisco or a sunbelt opponent. this is not a hot take. thank you.

P5 conferences don't want to play G5 schools in bowl games. It is a no-win situation for them and as their participating teams are lower in the standings, the chance of losing is much higher. So the AAC can try to secure P5 opponents for its bowl games, but it will always be an uphill battle.

Perfect representation of SMU "fans"

Eh, to be fair they are fans by wanting the best possible fight that SMU deserves. The debate will be what does SMU "deserve." Fans = Fanatics, so by logic, SMU should play in the National Championship or nothing else!
