convention over, dead period ends tomorrow and we have heard nothing about the coaching staff/hot shot recruiters being hired. meanwhile our competition is ready to start major recruiting efforts tomorrow. does dykes plan to do any major recruiting this year or is this going to be another of those 'we just need another season or two to get the right recruits' type of crap?

Not trying to argue. I am curious. With all due respect are questions of this type properly addressed to the University, the AD, those who fund the program or the new HC?

Dykes is off in Hawaii golfing while he waits to hire his coaches and get started recruiting.
Seriously, the fact that we are not hearing anything doesn't mean that he hasn't been interviewing candidates. It just means that the interviews are not leaking out.
We'll know about the DC in the next 24 hours. Dykes is going after a seriously big name. It's probably 50-50 right now but we agreed to give the candidate a week to think it over post-interview. If he decides to pass we will move quickly.
If we get who we are targeting all this nonsense about not paying market rate should be permanently put to rest. This will raise eyebrows nationally.

Still interviewing?? Dead period ends tomorrow and we need to be aggressively recruiting. Hard to believe that we do not have any major hires yet. Do you feel we don't need an outstanding recruiting class in order to upgrade and fill holes in our D as well as additional O players? Can't do that sitting on the bench while our competition is out there beating us to the best recruits.

Go to Rivals site and look at the classes put together by our competition. Because most of their recruits have already signed their LOI's, their classes are essentially complete. For the most part, they are recruiting for 2019.
For 2018, Dykes will need to get Chad's recruits (assuming he wants all of them) to sign their LOI. Otherwise, he will need to fill out the class with transfers, JUCOs, and a few guys who don't get the P5 offers they were expecting.
SMU is getting exactly the Head Coach and coaching staff they were willing to pay for--now where is that overhead projector--and once we can find someone to turn on the internet machine we are ready to go-sometime next week

@FootballScoop Asking around, sounds as if Sonny Dykes has most of his offensive staff in place. Some good hires. Will update…. http://FootballScoop.com/The-Scoop
