I actually read the SEC Rule about intra-conference transfer (at least for 2015-16) and it wasn't so clear to me that the prohibition applied to a player indirectly transferring such as a graduate transfer via SMU -and even prohibition of a direct transfer from Alabama to Georgia was waived by the commissioner. There were requirements for grad transfers too that I couldn't definitely establish could not be met. The rule was tabled for further consideration too. There maybe precedent though that applies that clarifies the interpretation of the rule--but just remember the SEC s still reviewing the rule I believe
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Has always seemed strange to me that there are stringent rules about players transferring from one school to another....but there'a absolutely no rule about a coach transferring anywhere he damn well pleases any time he damn well pleases, without any penalty at all. Explain?

One thing for sure, contracts don't mean squat.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Should we send this over to our law school to take a quick look?ΓÇ¥

ΓÇ£Naw I’m sure it’s good and fair.ΓÇ¥
This is how I imagine our contract drafting goes.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette this morning has a lengthy article on the Bielema buyout. Talk about a messed up deal. His UA contract has the step down clause from $15 million+ down to $5 million+. But the side deal with the Razorback Foundation leaves out the step down clause so the buyout on that contract is $15 million+. They are still negotiating and looks like will settle in the $11 million range.

It also says ΓÇ£UA’s ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, THROUGH THE RAZORBACK FOUNDATION, WILL PAY UP TO $2 MILLION TO COVER MORRIS’ BUYOUT WITH SMUΓÇ¥

We were only about 1.5 classes from having the defensive talent necessary

the consensus on here now seems to be "we are gonna really suck next season"
some are saying we win 4 games next season
others are predicting we only maybe have a winning season next year
i thought next year was gonna be "the year"?
We heard Chad was going to rock with his players finally in place!
We waited patiently for the pieces to fall into place.
So why is next year now such a predicted disaster?
i get we have a new coaching staff....
but Jezzzz how do we go from glowing predictions to doom so quickly?
have we had massive transfers that I am unaware of?
why will next year be so pitiful
I know I know....lets give it a 2-3 years and make a judgement then

Chad may be a lot of things but stupid he isn’t. He knew he would be expected to really come through this year and he knew what he didn’t have in players on the D side, and who was on the schedule. Chad needed to go, anywhere, as long as it was viewed as a step up. One more year here and he could forget a P5 gig.

3 favorite excuses according to Stallion:

- can't recruit without more fans in the stands

- can't recruit off 1,3 & 5 win seasons

-can't recruit defense until you recruit offense first
