My two morning games were Ls and NU was looking bad so I gave up when we were down 24-7 in the 3rd. Miracle of miracles we beat Minn in OT, 37-34. I'm watching it on BTN now but it's not the same. Not the same as in I don't feel like I am having a heart attack all the time.
There were some fantastic finishes this week, that's for sure. Wish SMU had been one of them!
Mainly watching Florida/Kentucky. Won’t be surprised if UF isn’t wanting a new coach. Just saw a Ford Mustang commercial. They used the term unbridled in the commercial.
Ulysses Bentley having his best game as an Ole Miss Rebel as he ran for 90 yards on 9 carries, scores a TD and also has one catch for 17 yards as Ole Miss scores late to take a 55-49 lead but it's not over yet. Ole Miss holds off a last second scoring attempt as teams combine for more than 1300 yards offense
watched both the memphis and tulane games. we better get our act together fast because we would not beat either of those teams right now. maybe the predictions of us finishing third may prove pretty accurate.
TCU lost in part to a couple of blocked field goals. Sonny had several temper tantrums against the officials and at least on unsportsmanlike conduct call. He seems to lead the NCAA in whining and childish temper tantrums. As in our two losses in which we won or played essentially an even game statistically, TCU had more total yards but they lost time of possession and had those special teams breakdowns. WVU is not a better team than SMU. Anxious to see if TCU season melts down. I think that they could lose to anyone on their remaining schedule with the possible exception of Iowa State.
I think Duke showed a blueprint of how you can turn around a moribund program very quickly in a P5 conference and with transfers, and a dynamic QB. You also need a really good HC that knows how to coach the X's and O's. Elko has significant experience coaching defenses, and you can tell his fingerprints are all over this new team. This is only Elko's second year as a HC. Lashlee doesn't have the same football coaching experience but it should would be nice to see him do for our offense what Elko has done to Duke's defense.
Duke flat out beat Clemson and had a real chance to take down ND, both games at home. They have been able to create a real football environment there, whereas not long ago most people laughed at their football attendance and lack of environment. Duke is also a small UG school, so it's much easier to create an environment in a basketball arena than in football. That's a good blueprint to follow for SMU.

Always good to see the toads lose, and it just shows you how disappointing our performance against them was. They were there for the taking, and we did not come out ready to perform. Very disappointing. We can beat the lower level G5 teams, but at this juncture we should be expecting better performances.
