Re: Memphis Game Thread
How did we use 8 seconds and lose 23 yards on the first two plays. That's not the way to play that.

Re: Memphis Game Thread
I think...I THINK the idea was to scramble back to where there would be no snap as the game clock would be under .:40 before marked...don't leave it in the hands of these officials.
Sigh...rest well, Mustang Faithful. You may now watch the remainder of the football weekend and worship tomorrow without any hinderance.

Nice to have a coach winning on the road late in the season.

Not sure if you were watching on TV but here's what happened in case you didn't.SMUer wrote:How did we use 8 seconds and lose 23 yards on the first two plays. That's not the way to play that.
Mem had two timeouts left and running backwards used up the clock in-play so that by the time on 3rd down they had none left he could scramble back and get enough time off the clock and down to 40s remaining. No need to snap 4th down.

Glad I wasn't able to watch it. Sounds like an ugly win on the road in November. We haven't had a lot of those.

Re: Memphis Game Thread
Scoring on the first 3 positions of the 2nd half really put the pressure on The KittyKats. And they couldn't match SMU.
Sadly, if we are going to let a team throw underneath and keep everything in front of us, we have to make tackles. Two critical tackles on short passed keep the clock running. Instead we mis tackles and give Memphis easy yards. Memphis saved its TO instead of burnings its timeout which gave them the easy score. Tackles equal burning off time.
Hats off cause the Ponies finished winning the first half and second half on the road.
Stone showed some maturity in the second half and that is one reason he excelled in the second half.
I didn't see the first half but the second half was won by the better overall team.
Next, clean up open field tackling and beat Navy.

I was able to watch the first half on a United Airlines jet at 39,000 feet over the Atlantic until we lost the signal at the end of the half. I couldnΓÇÖt wait to get on the ground and see the final score. I recorded it so will see it when I return.
Long live Inez Perez!

Gutsy win on the road in November against a legitimate opponent. Bad refereeing hurt both teams.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
