OK Stallion...you [deleted] and moan all the time that SMU can't take a chance on any players. And now you say that TCU is dirty because they are doing the very thing you say SMU should be doing? Funny how it would be ok for SMU. The bottom line is that SMU would have gladly signed just about every player TCU did today, with maybe a few exceptions depending on depth at certain positions. You make it sound like TCU recruits nothing but players with academic issues. Considering we have one of the better graduation rates in the country, then it looks like we're doing ok.

YEP! you must not read too well-I said the same thing and said I think SMU should sign recruits and give them until August 1 to qualify.

Then don't criticize TCU for doing what you want to do. There may be one or two that don't qualify, but that will hardly undo this class.

Ok, you show me an article or quote that shows Okie St./Nebraska/Kansas were backing off on these guys and I will agree with you. Thanks in advance.

I can believe you or our coaches. TCU has some concerns about kids qualifying, but not the ones you are listing.

Hodge has both core and test issues.

He wasn't calling TCU dirty and in fact if you read most of his posts you would understand he wants SMU to take the same risks.

All the ones who double signed have qualifying issues, along with some others. Hopefully for TCU they can raise their scores / core. But it is a gamble. And yes, Baylor did back off Hodge at the end, but obviously would love to have him if he does qualify.

If these kids pan out, you've pulled off a great coup, if they don't qualify for flunk out TCU had a very average class. Luckily for TCU, it is about on par with OSU academically and any functional illiterate can stay eligible there.

East, what??? Just because we (and our conferece) allow partials, that doesn't slight our academic standards once the players arrive on campus. You've got no basis for that statement...

TCU is the third best private in Texas after Rice and SMU, and is far better then OSU. What they have done is develop some "creative alternative degree programs" for their athletes to increase the percentages that stay in school, supposedly to get a degree. You guys can all knock them for that if you want to, but until we do the same it ain't going to be competitive around here. I am not going to knock them for doing what I think we should do -

Partial qualifiers. Heck, with the degrees that are available at TCU you would think that if they can play ball they can get one of many degrees available like:(these are all real)
-Fashion Merchandising
-Interior Design
-Criminal Justice
-Geography
-Nutrion
-Food Management
-Education
-Pys Ed
-Kinesiology
-Nursing
-Ranch Management

You got to love a school that offers P.E and Kinesiology as different degrees.

95% of the students majoring in those areas are not athletes. TCU is offering a wide variety of coursework for students of all kinds, not just athletes, you won't even see athletes in 7 of the majors you listed.

Sure there are a few courses that are a joke, but you won't find a division 1 university in the country where there aren't a few "bird" courses.... And yes, that includes SMU.

By the way, the Ranch Management program makes the Cox and Neely Schools look easy...

yeah...because the Neely school is easy.

Point is - we don't have p.e. and kinesiology - thats what TCU uses to keep in their student athletes that are not really students. We need to play the same game.

Food Service aka. Let's work at McDonalds.
PE. Let's get credit for playing football.
Criminal Justice. Let's be a rent-a-cop.
Nutrition. How I gain 50 lbs without taking steroids and when my eligibility runs out I can work in the school cafeteria.
Geography. Name the state capitals.

Got give you credit though, at least they'll have a trade.
