Stallion, I can't believe what has happened to SMU, but starting with Pye, it has all gotten turned upside down. To rant at those who do not remember or saw the SWC days isn't going to help. Tearing ourselves apart is not consturctive. I don't think playing ark. st. is great at face value, but if it means a win, then it is a start. (And I do think that tcu scheduling even softer that our soft conference did help them.) Yes, we all should be shocked and expect wins over rice, utep, and tulsa. I do. I do not tolerate and hate with a passion that that has been the case of late, but as you well know, and have seen, that is what has happened. What happened during the Pye administration has hindered SMU in so many ways, but at least we seem to be on a path to correct the matter.
I never blamed Cavan or Rossley as they were both woking with hands tied behindd their backs, but I do think they were not great recruiters or coaches. I still lay blame with the administration, Trustees, and faculty. Great scot, even Laura Bush was busy flashing that f'uped longhorn sign at W's coronation. If she was such a Mustang, she would never do such a thing. Do these folks really not feel embarrassed when SMU craps out? I know you and I do. I know that folls at USC didn't stand for it. I know folks at my wife's alma mater, u of florida, didn't stand for it. The sad fact is that we can sit here till we are blue in the face, but we do not seem to carry enough weight to change the situation in the hurry that it should.
I give what I can, but where is the big money? Yes Mr. Ford gave to build a beautiful new stadium, but what about the rest?? Yes, SMU needs commitment as our lizard friends to the west have done. Maybe it is time for a grassroots campaign to pressure the power brokers into making the necessary changes.
Until it is all over, I remain steadfast, as should we all who care about SMU. Support, do or die.

Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard
of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Yes.
Morons!

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

My mistake, Norm was ripping the Big XII schools for refusing to play anybody nonconference. Next year, the Big XII schools play 9 nonconference games against the 25 worst Div. 1A teams over the past 10 years and 10 games against 1-AA teams.
In particular, Texas Tech has what I acknowledge is the most ridiculous nonconference schedule in the country:
9-10-05 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
9-17-05 SAM HOUSTON STATE
9-24-05 INDIANA STATE
All three teams from 1-AA; all three at home.
Am I right, with that schedule, they have to win 5 conference games just to be bowl eligible? Meaning if they, like last year, lose to Texas, OU and A&M, they have to go undefeated through the rest of the Big XII just to go to a bowl. So they will have to beat Nebraska at Nebraska; OSU at OSU and beat K.State and Kansas at home.

Florida International may have filed their paperwork to be 1-A at this point. I vaguely remember that the rule was changed to allow at least one 1-AA win to count in alternating years for bowl eligibility. The reason was so that the 1-AA schools could enjoy big payday body-bag games. The real reason was so that the BCS schools could avoid having to schedule good mid-major teams. I guess we'll have to schedule Lehigh.

the REAL reason is so that BCS schools can schedule creampuffs to fill out a 6-7-8 home game schedule so that they can make enormous profits from 60,000-80,000 home game attendance including revenues from TV, Sky Boxes, and concessions. Body-bag schools don't command a return road game-that's the REAL reason for these games. It has nothing to do with the fear of scheduling teams like SMU. If SMU agreed to play these teams without a return home game we too could get any team in the country to schedule us. Multiply 70,000 * $50.00 = $ 3.5 MILLION and it becomes quite obvious why these games are scheduled. Also remember the average price of a tickets including Box Seats and preferential seating at a BCS school probably averages a lot more than $50 per ticket.

You are right. It looks like Fla. Int'l is moving up to 1-A. Speaking of attendance, their stadium only holds 12,673 and they only have 4 home games (with one to schedule). How on earth can they be div. 1? They will automatically fall below the attendance requirement.
You are right about the every-other year 1-AA rule. Which is why I was saying they only need 5 Big 12 wins. But I guess they only need 4. With any justice they will get spanked accordingly and not get to go to a bowl.
