SMU Fans Are Easily the Worst in College Football.

God there is not a topic on earth we could ever agree with. The SMU girls looked like Hookers? Are you kidding me? That was an All-Star display by some of the finest looking woman on earth. I guess you like the girls with ragged jeans, T-shirts, tatoos, piercings, bed-head hair and flip-flops better. I'm sure you can find that all and more at your alma mater.

another thing killing our home atmosphere is the thousand plus people sittting behind glass in the club boxes. Great fundraiser, but horrible for our crowd because it takes a chuck of our core fans out as if they are not there.

One suggestion is to start with the students. My son graduated this year and I was always surprised that the students, especially the men and fraternities, didn't feel it important to attend every game, be in a seat prior to the team running on to the field and remain in the stadium throughout the game.

I think I attended almost every game for four years in the sixties. It was expected and fun. I am afraid that too many things compete for their attention now, e.g. College Game Day, other televised games (read BCS schools), DVDs, music, house parties, etc. The women will come when the guys do.

As for us alumni, we could do better, but the attendance and passion needs improvement in the student body. Look what Bobby Knight has done at TT. Look what Charlie Wies is doing in South Bend. The school doesn't work this angle and it needs attention. Apparently, we need a highly visible and previously successful leader as HC and an AD, who won't settle for less.

Obviously, you prefer the 'lower class' look that the co-eds from SMUt were displaying yesterday. Several girls walked by me with their [deleted] halfway hanging out...yeah, great example of a 'family atmosphere'. And I saw more tatoos yesterday on those SMUt coeds than you could find in the Walls Unit in Huntsville.

Stallion: don't make assumptions about my alma mater. I would wager that you've never set foot on my university's campus. Preconceived notions on your part are just a prime example of your ignorance.

You'll get a chance to see my university's football team play on TV several times this season. And you know what the major difference is between my alma mater (a 'lowly Div. 1-AA team') and SMU's football teams? WE WIN A HELLUVA LOT MORE OFTEN!

MM65: you're killing me. There was nothing obscene about what the women were wearing on The Boulevard, and to suggest they looked like hookers .... wow. If the NCAA offered a competition for the best-looking women on campus, SMU would be in the running for the national championship each and every year. Maybe you suffer from the same ailment that afflicts me: age. Each year, I walk The Boulevard and feel a few more gray hairs creeping in. But goodness .... the talent at SMU is out of this world.

Why was the Baylor band seated that close to the field? Why wasn't the Baylor band in the far reaches of Ford? There loud playing was less than sporting. It went well with #3 for Baylor doing his little celebration dance after committing pass interference. One would be hard pressed to expect anything other than what one witnessed Saturday.

Crowd: I agree that the SMU crowd is pathetic. I sat on the west side 50 yard line and I was the only one in my section and one of a very few in the bordering sections to stand up and make noise during 3rd downs. As I looked around to see who was cheering and who wasn't I noticed maybe 100 people scattered throughout the west side cheering with the exception of where the parents sit.

You can say that the older alum that sit on the west side are too old and frail to get up every few minutes (plenty AARP members in the area), but at other schools people of that advanced age seem to be able to muster the strength. I understand the apathy if we are down 30 points in the 3rd, but we were ahead and playing a Big 12 team (albeit Baylor) with a damn good chance to win. It made me sick that these were my fellow alum. And would it kill people to throw on some red! It's pretty standard around the country for fans to wear the color of their University. Maybe we should change are school color to whatever the hell each person feels like wearing that day, and we claim school spirit by default

Students: I was very proud of our student section, it looked fairly packed and those balloons or whatever they were waving looked great. Now if we could spread that over six sections that would be something to write home about. Unfortunately, after the inept showing by are boys in Red that section will start it's steady yet inevitable decline. We can also write off the class of 2009 (I think) as ever having interest in the athletics program. We have one chance to hook them, that's why the first game is so important.

Attire: I thought the attire on the Blvd. was appropriate and up to the usual standards. A friend of mine at our tent mentioned it look liked most girls were going to the prom. I'd rather see the girls in jeans and red shirts (during football games only) rather than dressed to the nines, but you will never hear me complain. That is part of what makes the Blvd. great.

MM196: Don't call the girls at SMU "SMUt's". You didn't go here so you have no right to throw those insults around. I'm glad your a fan of SMU, I even enjoyed seeing you at games last year trying to get the crowd involved, but zip it when it comes to things you really have no grasp of. You seem to have high moral standards, so it belittles your argument when you call these 18 and 19 year old girls, SMUt's.

The reason those Tulane FB guys were crying was they know they will never see the likes of our beautiful co-eds at any Tuland game!

who knew there were so many "prudes" on this board. As a father of an 18 yr old freshman girl (at Clemson), I'm well aware of how these girls are dressing. It may upset some of you, but it makes me want to be an 18 yr old freshman all over again. All part of an enjoyable game day atmosphere if you ask me.

As for the comment about the girls at SMU thinking they are going to the prom, I agree. It's a football game girls. Nothing wrong with casual dress. I can still recall going to the Cotton Bowl back in the early 70's in 90 degree heat and watching the coeds (and some mothers) wearing their new fall (wool) fashions as I sat comfortably in shorts and t-shirt

I would give kudos to the students that came in number, were loud and stayed for most of the game, unlike all those that Stallion praises who have the experience of winning in the past. The west stands were vacated way to quickly even when the game was on the line and their support was needed.
