The difference is of course that TU/OU are now in the same conference and are looking at their conference bottom lines. Ark/UT used to be a pretty big rivalry (one step below OU and A&M for the Whorns). I know that Texas was pretty upset when Arkansas packed its bags for the SEC because it was usually a great contest and well attended and was usually a nationally televised game. If those two are willing to mend fences, I could see them starting up a new rivalry with the Hogs. Would Arkansas like to play in Dallas again (without having to risk losing to SMU)? Absolutely!

You used TU and whorns all in one thread. By any chance did you go to fish camp?

But admitedly, I'd love to see it. The grass/picninc-type area completeley filled. Temporary bleachers behind the south endzone, standing room only everywhere, and SMU winng 27-26.
tech actually has the largest alumni base in dallas of the top three (tech, ut, a&m) so if we can host tech why can't we host ut

How is not having a game in Dallas going to affect UT's recruiting in the Metroplex? You're nuts. We're talking about the University of Texas here not Slippery Rock University.I seriously doubt Sergio Kindle based his decision to go to UT solely on the Texas-OU game. I'm sure that whole deal with winning had a lot to do with it. Texas is a big time program and they'll be able to get who they want when they want as long as they keep winning. The only ones it would hurt are the Texas-OU alums and fans that are in the DFW area, the City of Dallas because of the money that won't be spent here and the State Fair because their golden goose will have flown the coop.

You have to be kidding me. You think it makes any big difference? It isn't like they aren't on TV every game, or didn't have a huge, huge, visible, vocal alumni presence.

UT unlike the others probably has a larger non alumni fan base than the other 2 that would be willing to attend a game, especially now that they're back to their winning ways. I could see UT filling this game moreso than Tech did when they came to visit.

You are right about that. I have heard that the fair makes the majority of their revenue on that weekend.

No I didn't go to fish camp. But to follow up on what has been said. The Whorns will sell out any venue in Texas. I suspect one problem area for us and TCU in dealing with the Whorns is our television contract. You know that CSTV or ESPN 2 will want to carry it if it is our home game (and for the Froggies they only have CSTV). Fox SW will want to carry it if it is their home game. I suspect that the Fox folks won't want to see CSTV/CBS even having the chance to sniff at a UT game. So, that could be an issue in the negotiations.
