Clipper's comparison? Yea, that is really relevant.
Dude, it's going to happen (bball facility upgrades) so forget about it. If it's not done now, we'll really be left behind. Yes, for the millionth time, the academic admission changes need to happen also - we all know this.
Get over it.

No, they probably won't happen with all y'all satisfied with a new practice facility that won't help recruiting or attendance.
As alums, we should focus on making the athletic program more competitive. Facilities are pointless until SMU puts us on a level playing field in recruiting. The second that happens, I will cheer with the rest of you at the openings of these buildings. These facility upgrades simply serve as opium for the alumni, covering up the true problems of the program.

TCU used to recruit much better in basketball before they had a practice facility. For those who think T.J. Ford and Darrell Arthur are gonna start knocking down our door to play for us, look at TCU's record the past couple of years.

Didn't Darrell Arthur already committ to Kansas? I did not think that TJ Ford could play college ball since he has been in the NBA for a couple of years......

Yeah, you're right. A new basketball facility won't help recruiting, but a daily mention on page 6 of Sports Day will.

How has the practice facility at TCU helped their recruiting? If we were going to argue about their recruiting stats, it would seem that the practice facility has hurt their recruitiing.

Let's see, MD seemed to think it mattered and the DISD coaches quoted in the paper seemed to think so. A lot of posters seemed to think so and were screeming for it. Now that it looks like we will get it we hear the chorus of whiners that say it will not matter. Sheesh.

No SMU stories have been published recently."
I went to the SMU page on the DMN site today and found this message.
At least they admit it...
I'm looking forward to football season so at least we can get token coverage (unless Dale Hansen digs up a scandal before then).

Clippers made it to the playoffs this year without a practice facility.
I don't care if they build it. I just think it is ridiculous if we act like it is gonna help our win/loss record or recruiting. [/quote]
Sure hasn't help us on either front!

Well, I guess we all have our reasons. You're looking forward to the season so you can read about the team in the DMN? Personally, I'm looking forward to the season because I love SMU and football, I'm eager to see the games, cheer for the Ponies and hopefully support them on their way to a bowl game.
But I'm sure reading about the team will be nice, too.

President Turner also thinks it matters. At the Orsini press conference, he made a joke about how the DMN fails to cover SMU.
