Jesus what a bitter taste this leaves in the mouth........This was the year as Phoenix scares the hell out of me with Stoudemire coming back next year.
Say what you want, we let the Heat beat the hell out of our best players and outside of Stack's hard foul on Shaq, we played nice with them. Dirk was never the same after Shaq got him with those 2 elbows early in the series and same for Stack when Shaq got him in the nose. After that, we started settling for jumpers. To win championships, you have to knock the hell out of people. I wonder if Wade would have so dominant if right after Shaq nailed Dirk the second time, Avery had sent Daniels or Armstrong to undercut Mr. Wade on his next highlight dunk???????

Agreed. Very dissapointing to get this far and beat the Spurs and Phx.
Phx will only be better and should crush everyone with Amare and company is they keep everyone together. Dallas needs another stud that is CONSISTENT in scoring. Too many times these guys have fallen off in the playoffs and the slack is barely picked up. Terry was awful in the 2nd half.
They were pansies about going to the basket after Game 3.

Why do you hate the Dallas Mavericks?

Pay attention: he hates Cuban, so the Mavs get it by association.
For the record, I think Cuban is awesome. The guy got rich young and is not afraid to play with his toys in public. Good for him.

As a fellow Anti-Mavs guy I would like to field this from my perspective.
1. As jt said, many people dislike Cuban. I am one of these people. I don't think he presents himself with any degree of class whatsoever considering he is a very public figure. Some people think its cool to curse at reporters and carry on like a fool- I don't. I have much more respect for an owner that carries himself in a dignified way.
2. I don't like Mavericks fans. Not some of you that have followed the team through the ups and downs. I am talking about the so called "fans" that never followed the team until their recent success and consider themselves hard core Mavs fans. I can understand not remembering Blackman, Perkins, Tarpley, Detlef and others but do you realize the number of "Mavs fans" that aren't even aware that Jason Kidd ever played for Dallas? Its absurd. The fact that I have to have a PA guy yelling at me all game long to get the crowd involved is ridiculous. The crowds at games have a greater amount of people watchers and social butterflys who don't really watch the game than I have ever seen at any other sports teams games (granted I have limited exposure- for instance I have never seen a proffesional sporting event in California). I just think the fans are the most bandwagon, non sports caring group I have ever encountered.
3. I do not like most of the Mavs players. I like Stack, Diop, Van Horn (yes I know most Mavs fans hate him), Harris and especially Coach Avery. I like the way they play the game and I like that for the most part they aren't the dance around, stare people down, bush league type stuff players such as Terry, Howard, Daniels and numerous others in the NBA are. I don't like Dampier bc he makes claims such as being the second best center in the NBA yet sucks. I am not a big fan of Dirk, although I don;t strongly dislike him. He really had me coming around this playoffs when he was attacking the basket and playing tough hard nosed ball. I think the Mavs would have closed the series out had he not reverted back to Euro Dirk. I am a young guy but like the mentality of old school players who go out, play their butt off and allow their game to speak for itself.
Those are my reasons for not liking the Mavs, although I cannot speak for Hixon. On a side note, I still have a Mavs Jamal Mashburn replica jersey from when I was a kid. I was so excited about him and Kidd playing together (and to a lesser extent Jackson as well). So I was at a time a Mavs fan. Of course, that was a jersey I had when I was a kid. I wouldn't wear it now as a grownup, especially if I owned an NBA team. Remind you of anyone?

I have to agree with Icon on all the above.
Oh and don't forget when Dirk hacked Duncan over the back in game 7 with 1 second left. What goes around comes around.

You mustn't like the vast majority of NBA players, then. I agree with you about old school players, but there just aren't any more of them in the league.

You are right jt, I don't. Its a big reason why I have soured so much on the NBA really. I still don't miss a game of the playoffs, follow my favorite teams etc but I am not near as hardcore NBA as I once was. And yes even though I was pulling for Miami seeing an Antione Walker shimmy after a made basket makes me just as angry as Jason Terry's wanna be gangster stare down.

you have a Mashburn replica jersey, but you dont like Dirk? Makes perfect sense. Dirk is a stud who led his team to the finals and Mashburn was a chump for the most part. Good god man, where do you get this stuff?
And Covok, the Spurs are as whiny as the Mavs. Dont even try to tell anybody that Timmy doesnt get more than his share of calls and he whines about every call that goes against him. Also, love how Duncan laid down in the Olympics and allowed the U.S. to get slapped down by the Euros and Argentines.

Sorry that we don't share the same favorite players Hoop.

I liked Mash alot, bought his jersey when I was in Jr. High. I am not trying to convince anyone he is a better player than your beloved Dirk so calm down. As for him being a chump, I think he was a 20/5/5ish guy in the league and would have been better had his carreer not been slowed by injuries. Not record breaking numbers by any means but pretty darn good for a 10+ year career in the NBA.
Anyhow, glad to see you are in your normal disposition today. Haven't heard any bitter, angry posts from you in a while. Thanks for checking in.

BTW. Now that the Championship is over, don't the exhibition games start soon?
