I've got no problems with the facts Mickey, it's the smart [deleted] snide remarks I can do without.

QB Logan Turner is on the National Dual Threat Rivals QB list for 2007 and is Unrated like alot of players at this time pending his Senior season. However, there are about 200 2007 National QB Prospects on the list but at least he made it. Hopefully, he will grow alittle bit and drop that Forty Time a tenth of a second. Good Luck Logan !

Turner was the 15th QB from the state of Texas to get an offer. !4 of those 15 were 6-2 and above. 11 out 14 were 6-3 and above. Begin Doug Flutie references here___________. The fact is that Phil Bennett has been beaten soundly in QB recruiting in Texas. Just once it would be nice if SMU could sign one of the Top 15 QBs in Texas. Rice has got two 2 since they went 0-11.

" Just once it would be nice if SMU could sign one of the top 15 QB's in Texas" Quote Stallion....... .Rivals.Com final QB ratings 2005 Dual Treat # 4 in Texas, #28 in the Nation Freshman QB Justin Willis, ... 2005 #7 in Texas, #46 in Nation Freshman QB Eric Johnson,.....2006 #13 in Texas True Freshman QB Zac Rhodes. These facts are on Rivals.com by looking up past recruiting years.

Agreed. That is something I'm sure all of us would like to see.
Since you keep up with the rankings and ratings better than most of us, just out of curiosity, what was Justin Willis's ranking when we recruited him?
Edit: Obviously my question was answered while I was typing it. It is also nice to see that we have signed some top 15 QB's recently. I should pay better attention.

In 2005 the only Pro Style Texas QB rated slightly higher than Justin Willis was UT's Colt McCoy. So considering both Pro Style and Dual Treat ratings SMU's Justin Willis was the Rivals #5 overall QB in Texas that year.

Check it out on Rivals.com. Click on Database and go to year 2005 and look under Dual Treat QB's Willis was the fourth Texan on the list, # 28 Nationally. Then look up Pro Style under same year . Only McCoy from Texas was barely rated higher. Maybe all the positive talk about Justin Willis from Coach PB may just might pan out. Coach says he thinks Willis is a leader/winner. Concerning his work ethic, Coach Burns calls Willis a "football junkie".He had a great record at Denton Ryan. I guess we will find out pretty soon !

So much for Coach Bennett getting "out recruited" then. You are right...we will see soon... I just hope someone steps up and leads us to 8 victories this season.
Keep your calenders clean in December and January.

So you're saying a 17-year-old guy might grow (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) during his senior year of high school? As someone who had a FIVE-inch growth spurt and added nearly 20 POUNDS in my senior year, that's a pretty shocking prediction.

McCoy was offered by every Big 12 school in the state (and maybe Arkansas), and I don't recall Willis having those types of offers.

Willis gave a very solid commitment very early. That was a year before Mack Brown's "I think I will fill my class before the end of August" theory of recruiting really took off.

Yes, Willis committed early. He got offers from New Mexico and Tulsa and interest from Kansas State, Northwestern, and Iowa State.

Willis committed 2 weeks before signing date which is mop up time for schools like SMU when the player doesn't get the offer he wants. Correct Willis was a Top 10 QB in one of the weakest if not the weakest QB crops in the history of Texas. The rest are leftovers Without question SMU under Bennett has the worst record of recruiting QBs in the State of Texas over the last 4years.
