I'm the SMU 76 brother of an almost SMU player, SFA 80, if Hayden Fry
hadn't been fired, and our Dad graduated from SMU in 50. Does that
count :?:

I'm the father of an SMU grad ('94) and I graduated in '60...and he played football...but high school. He was good enough to play for SMU while there but he chose not to play the game anymore for various reasons.
I would have loved for him to have played for My Alma Mater..(We live vicariously thru our children do we not?)

What if you are the son of a current player? Does that count?

(Adrian Haywood is my father.)

Joe Sturdivant fashioned Adrian Haywood out of five small fishes and two loaves. And a pile of dirt and pain.

Current parent of player, and just wanted to say . Doesn't seem like the majority of people on this site of which is called ponyfans are very supportive of team. They do the best with what they have . Encouragement from all sources is a very positive motivater. Son wont usally look at this site because of the generally negative opions posted. Help us keep them fired up and positive. We deal with the losses and negitive press and still support the team and players.

Unfortunately so are most of the people who post on this board.

i know a bunch of the current players/coaches read this board... and appreciate the people who have faith in them... but ask your son college football is not a game it is a business! all the people who get on here and post care about the well being of the the players and the team, and want more then anything for them to do well. although I don't always agree with some of the negativity from people say on here (STALLION), but i respect what they have to say. if none of us cared their wouldnt be a need for this message board. And im sure when your son gets done playing and can't make it to every game he will hop on ponyfans like many ex players and alumni because this is the best source to get information about the team. also i had one current player who will remain nameless said that he appreciated that some people were bashing him b/c it made him want to prove them wrong. anyways we're all here because we support SMU Football, trust me the board is a lot more positive then it was about 6 months ago when we didnt have a QB we could trust. BEAT ECU!

This website is for people to discuss SMU athletics, not lead cheers. Considering the football team's record over the last two decades, there SHOULD be alot of negitive material in the football section. Perhaps ending the year with a positive record could change this. I'm pretty sure the players SHOULD NOT read this board.

..I'm to the point now that I only read Stallion / JTstang / LakeHighlands / Bergermister / Charleston Pony / MM1963 for laughs / and a handful of others....this board really has become a "ding dong paradise".

"Ding Dong" and "Paradise" should never occupy the same sentence.

If this is Mr. Strodtman -- father of gray shirt LB Patrick Strodtman -- then just understand and recognize that we have all lived with heartache and losing records for years. But there are a good number on this board who come back every year regardless.

And a lot us use this board as a release from stress and because when we complain, our spouses don't want to hear it.

But I'm excited Pat's coming. I know he had a great coach in coach Vanderford and we hope he can step and contribute soon.

I don't make a practice of 'outing' people on the board, but my guess would be if he's not who you suggested, he'd be the papa or young (but large) Mr. Smith
