Justin did a good job making plays, it wasnt the plays that were called... how many busted plays did Justin turn into something good

I think he should go. Not because of his record or coaching, but simply because we need someone new to want to fire. We have been complaining about Bennett and demanding he be fired for years. It isn't the same with the same old tried and true scapegoat. We need a new piece of meat to demand that he be fired. This board would explode with new creativity and enthusiasm as people demanded that we fire the new coach. Heck, I bet we get 10 or 15 threads dedicated to firing the new coach before he is even hired.

Sarcasm off and I await the usual rants to a sarcastic blog.

How many times this season were the Mustangs inside the 'red zone' and failed to convert it into a TD? The two 4th and 1 to the goal line attempts against Rice out of a shotgun/pistol formation were ridiculous! Burns needs to be shot out of a cannon!

Unless huge big name coach wants to come here and coach us, Bennett should stay. I don't think anyone else will do any better. We've tried up and comers, Super Bowl coaches, Offensive genius, defensive genius, coaches with Texas ties, coaches without Texas ties and the results are the same. As for Burns, the offense looked a little crisper this year than the last two years. But for three years now, it has sputtered at best. We shouldn't discount the effect of losing Martin early in the season. He clearly was supposed to help carry the load and keep the pressure off Willis. I'm looking forward to having both of them play together next year. I guess I'd lean to keeping Burns so that Justin won't have to learn a new playbook.

Agreed. The offensive output this year seemed to be more in spite of the play calling than because of it. Many of our TDs were the result of Willis scrambling and finding a receiver doing likewise.

Where the coaching really comes out is when you have 1st and goal from the 1 and move backwards because you only have one play that starts with the QB under center, and that's a naked bootleg. Or on 3rd and 4 when the called play is a WR comeback which -- even when caught -- is only a 2 yard route and leaves the ball carrier facing backfield and unable to make positive yards.

It's not our call. Orsini will recommend and the big money people will decide. People with various agendas can post on here all day but it is out of their hands. If you are an SMU fan you have to expect the worst.

Hiring Doh was great but firing Tubbs the way it was done was disgraceful. That's SMU.

He couldn't light a fire under a box of matches, let alone a whole football team.

Great offensive coordinator. Lacking as a head coach.

He should stay i think the programs in the right direction.
