BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

please don't use "tu" - that's what aggies do and we all know that aggies are dumb-[deleted] cult members who have no original thoughts.

Seriously, what's the point in spending $50 million to renovate the Cotton Bowl? Now that the Cotton Bowl Classic is moving to Arlington, it will be no time before UT/OU and PVA&M/GU games move there as well. How long will $50 million of renovations keep those games in Dallas? Will there be a new .com bowl game in Dallas that will attract enough fans to only fill up the lower level?

I'm sure Laura Miller could give you a good answer to that question.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda (or vice versa)..... the cotton bowl has been on a downhill slide since they replaced the wooden bleachers with metal seats creating the beachball effect. No significant improvements in over 30 years. Been in the press box lately? I think there's still some trash in there from the '49 cotton bowl game. Clint Murchison couldn't get anybody's attention and neither could Jerry Jones. Essentially, the cotton bowl's days were numbered when the cowboys moved to Irving. A domed stadium should have been built at Fair Park while the cowboys were still playing in the cotton bowl. It would be time for a new one now (since it would have been Astrodome-like in concept) but it would all still be in Dallas. Glad we've got Ford, Moody, Dedman, Crum and Bush. Soon we'll have a new Haggar (I guess), new Perkins (with a new name) and improved Westcott.

I did enjoy Mustang games at the Cotton Bowl especially during the Fair. Yeah our crowds sucked and looked miniscule in there, but it was fun. Taking a bus to the game, going out to the bus at half-time, coming back inside for the second half. Messing up the Aggie half-time show. Seeing Earl Campbell run wild against us. That was Mustang football.

The Cotton Bowl stadium still has two things going for it: More seats and the State Fair.

TX-OU and PV-Grambling won't head to Arlington. If they can't play at the CB, TX-OU would rather go home-and-home. The CB gives them more seats than what the Cowboys are building, which means they can make more money on tickets. The atmosphere of the State Fair is what makes TX-OU special. Spruce up the CB a little, give them more luxury suites for their big donors and a few more dollars in ticket sales and they'll stay.

Same for PV-Grambling. Without the State Fair, that game loses a lot of its luster. It's a big social event, not just a game. They fill the seats at halftime for the bands, then go back to having fun at the Fair. Put it in Arlington and a lot of people will stop going.
